Department Manager - Operations
OVERVIEW:
As a Department Manager - Operations at Gymshark Regent St, your purpose is to grow and nurture an inclusive and diverse team, putting their experience at the heart of decisions, which is representative of our brand values. A crucial role in the senior leadership team of our retail space, you’ll be playing a key role in bringing Gymshark to life, in real life.
We do things differently. That’s why this won’t be your typical retail role. If you think experience first, retail second, then you won’t be far wrong.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need to have a growth mindset, be people focused, have a drive for results and an entrepreneurial approach. You will also have significant commercial experience, and a thorough understanding of the retail business.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Responsible for the overall day to day and strategic running of the store, you’ll be thinking a year ahead whilst being present to the now
- Responsible for sales, KPI’s and the store P&L
- Feedback & solutions communicated clearly and effectively to GSHQ with a collaborative approach and can do attitude
- Hiring, developing and leading a diverse and world class team that’s as excited about Gymshark as we are. Our team, customer / community experiences and product education matter to us, and they matter to you. You think strategically about career development and pipelining talent within your store and for future Gymshark locations. You develop your own successor
- Working closely with the Retail Operations team to create best practises both operational and commercial and the blueprint for our future stores
- Identify and act upon community, commercial or operational opportunities. You know your market better than anyone, you see an opportunity – you go after it
- You provide consistent coaching and feedback to hold your team accountable. You are on the sales floor providing coaching and feedback in the moment to your team, you are accountable for all areas of education and customer experience
- Accountable for omni channel initiatives that will be rolled out in your store, for example RFID or Click and Collect
- Accountable for efficient and effective store scheduling that supports the needs of the business and coming in on or under budget with regards to hours. You are responsible for the hiring of your store teams and building a pipeline of talent
- Accountable for all stock in the store (in and outward bound), ensuring best practises are adhered to and stock inventory is accurate, and losses minimised. Supporting omni channel initiatives through store stock
- Responsible for managing the stores budget
- Support, coach and train others to grow personally and professionally, and at the same time secure your own learning and development

- This is a store based role and as a Department manager you will be running the store as needed alongside the other Department managers.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Essential skills:
- Extensive management experience in a fast paced, high volume, agile environment
- You have a proven track record of managing / leading / developing large teams
- You do everything to ensure community and customer satisfaction
- You are passionate about development and have a strong belief in individuals potential
- Highly effective communicator in both writing or speech
- You are comfortable shifting gears and spinning multiple plates
- Creative & Entrepreneurial Mindset
- Your energy is infectious, and you inspire those around you
- You can commit to working where & when the retail teams need you. This could be in store, on weekends or bank holidays
- Must be able to take and give constructive feedback
- You have integrity
- You do all of this whilst having fun, and ensuring others around you are too
