Economist Impact delivers world-class events that bring the journalism and insight of The Economist to life. Through innovative programming and exceptional execution, our events convene senior leaders from government, business, and civil society to engage in meaningful dialogue around the world’s most pressing issues driving progress and shaping the global agenda.
We are seeking a highly organised and dynamic VIP Manager to join our events team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing high-level stakeholder engagement, overseeing sponsor and delegate communications, and ensuring the seamless delivery of side-event activations such as private dinners, roundtables, and one-to-one introductions. A core responsibility of this role is to identify, engage, and confirm the most relevant delegates to meet or exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with sponsors, providing regular updates on confirmed delegates and key targets.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of side-activation milestones, including private roundtables, dinners, and introductions.
- Use Google Forms and other digital tools to collect and manage sponsor targets and inbound delegate applications.
- Coordinate with the design team to produce professionally branded invitation PDFs and related materials.
- Maintain accurate records using Excel and CRM platforms such as Cvent to manage delegate pipelines and reporting.
- Proactively meet or exceed contractual targets, for example, securing 20 delegate confirmations where 15 are required.
- Support overall event delivery in collaboration with programming, operations, sales and marketing teams.
- When applicable, attend the events, to manage the registration for the activation
- Deliver post event reports (if needed) and also update the M Master immediately so that it accurately reflects what happened in readiness for the ops team to send to the final attendee lists to sponsors

- Excellent time management and the ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-focused approach
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of excellence
- Ability to manage several projects at a time
- Commercially-minded and highly motivated to exceed targets
- A self-motivated, energetic, and intuitive team player
- Interest in current affairs and global issues aligned with The Economist's editorial agenda
Technical Proficiencies:
- Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)
- Google Forms and Google Workspace
- CRM tools, ideally Cvent
- Familiarity with Google Analytics is a plus
