Who we are

We are an organisation that exists to drive progress. That's the “red thread” that connects everyone at The Economist Group (TEG). Our businesses share a devotion to innovation, independence and rigour in their fields of expertise. We empower people to understand and tackle the critical challenges and changes facing the world. Our analytical rigour, global expertise and evidence-based insights enable individuals and organisations to make sense of these shifts and chart a course through them.

We deliver analysis and insights in many formats to subscribers and clients in 170 countries through our four businesses, The Economist, Economist Impact, Economist Intelligence and Economist Education, which uphold our global reputation for excellence and integrity.

Economist Impact delivers world-class events that bring the journalism and insight of The Economist to life. Through innovative programming and exceptional execution, our events convene senior leaders from government, business, and civil society to engage in meaningful dialogue around the world’s most pressing issues driving progress and shaping the global agenda.

We are seeking a highly organised and dynamic VIP Manager to join our events team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing high-level stakeholder engagement, overseeing sponsor and delegate communications, and ensuring the seamless delivery of side-event activations such as private dinners, roundtables, and one-to-one introductions. A core responsibility of this role is to identify, engage, and confirm the most relevant delegates to meet or exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with sponsors, providing regular updates on confirmed delegates and key targets.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of side-activation milestones, including private roundtables, dinners, and introductions.

  • Use Google Forms and other digital tools to collect and manage sponsor targets and inbound delegate applications.

  • Coordinate with the design team to produce professionally branded invitation PDFs and related materials.

  • Maintain accurate records using Excel and CRM platforms such as Cvent to manage delegate pipelines and reporting.

  • Proactively meet or exceed contractual targets, for example, securing 20 delegate confirmations where 15 are required.

  • Support overall event delivery in collaboration with programming, operations, sales and marketing teams.

  • When applicable, attend the events, to manage the registration for the activation

  • Deliver post event reports (if needed) and also update the M Master immediately so that it accurately reflects what happened in readiness for the ops team to send to the final attendee lists to sponsors

Candidate Profile:

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent time management and the ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-focused approach

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of excellence

  • Ability to manage several projects at a time

  • Commercially-minded and highly motivated to exceed targets

  • A self-motivated, energetic, and intuitive team player

  • Interest in current affairs and global issues aligned with The Economist's editorial agenda

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)

  • Google Forms and Google Workspace

  • CRM tools, ideally Cvent

  • Familiarity with Google Analytics is a plus

If you are a highly organised professional with a passion for delivering impactful, content-driven events and building relationships with senior-level stakeholders, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your CV along with a covering letter explaining why you would be a valuable addition to the Economist Impact events team.
