The role
We are seeking a strategic and commercially minded Head of Editorial to lead our editorial function. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the voice, strategy and direction of our content and thought-leadership products, while driving engagement and subscriptions of EuroFinance Corporate Treasury Network (ECTN). This is a pivotal role within an established B2B brand, where you will transform event-driven insights into high-value products for a global community of corporate treasurers.
The successful candidate will combine strong newsroom skills with deep subject matter expertise and a product-thinking mindset. This role requires close partnership with commercial teams to deliver demonstrable value for both the audience and our clients.
Strategic accountability
- Vision: Define and implement the long-term editorial strategy, ensuring content aligns with the events and the needs of a demanding corporate treasury audience
- Commercial growth: Identify, launch, and scale new products (reports, deep-dives) designed to attract sponsorship revenue
- Data leadership: Implement a sophisticated data visualisation strategy, turning survey findings, interviews with treasurers and financial data into compelling visual stories
- Event integration: Oversee the editorial output from our events, ensuring the weekly newsletter and digital channels capture and expand upon the high-level discussions.
Responsibilities
- Community engagement: Assess and develop ECTN (our members-only online network) to increase engagement and drive subscriptions
- Team leadership: Direct management of the assistant editor, providing mentorship, quality control, and professional development
- Product development: Leverage open-source research, surveys and event recordings to create "exclusive" content
- Innovation: Proactively suggest and execute new content formats that improve audience engagement and retention
- Public face: Represent the editorial brand at global events, engaging with senior industry stakeholders and speakers
Experience, skills, and attributes
- Editorial leadership: Proven track record in a senior editorial role, ideally within B2B finance or events-led media
- Subject matter expertise: Understanding of capital markets and financial reporting
- Commercial acumen: Demonstrated ability to create content that translates into revenue through sponsorships or subscriptions
- Research: Skilled in open-source research and translating data from corporate financial disclosures into actionable insights
- Thought leadership production: Comfortable designing surveys and synthesising data to produce engaging, high-value takeaways
- Audience mindset: Experience growing subscribers/communities and improving engagement and usage through testing and analytics
- Management: Experience managing small, high-performing teams
- General: Organised, deadline driven; excellent line-editing skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams; curiosity to learn fast; a strong communicator
Note: The role will be based in London. The Economist Group operates a hybrid working policy with three days working from the office.
