Information Researcher
As the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, Economist Intelligence
helps leaders prepare for opportunity, empowering them to act with confidence when
making strategic decisions. The EI is the global standard in providing quality, actionable
intelligence to the public and private sectors, assessing issues that impact the
marketplace for over two hundred countries.
We are looking for an ‘Information Researcher’ to work with our in-house
research/library team. The team works on subscription requests (e.g. arranging access
to third-party databases, e-journals, paid reports, newspapers, magazines, news
websites, etc), managing the various ongoing subscriptions, working on secondary
research requests, setting up newsletters on the given topics, etc. These requests come
from internal editors/analysts as well as contributors. The selected candidate will help
the team manage the ongoing subscriptions, route the daily updates (for active
subscriptions) to users, help with setting up various newsletters, etc. From time to time,
the role also involves the handling of secondary research requests.
Accountabilities:
In the role you would be expected to:
 Manage the team’s shared inbox to make sure that all the emails that come in daily
are worked upon and routed to relevant users (outside or within the team). The
emails can be related to alerts for active subscriptions, renewal notifications for
active subscriptions, new subscription requests, research requests, newsletter
queries, access to paid journals, etc.
 Checking in the received issue of active electronic or print subscriptions in the
Library Management System system. After the check-in, share the received issue
with the user (internal/external).
 Daily tracking of the country/industry updates from sources like IMF, World Bank,
OECD, etc.
 Liaise with different Regional Directors, Principal Economists, and Analysts regularly
to get the latest list of editors/contributors covering different countries. Accordingly
updating the records to make sure that country analysts are getting relevant updates
related to their country.
 Timely update records in the Library Management System and other shared files (in
Google Drive) that are accessible to the team internally.
 Assist with creating or updating newsletters using the news search databases.
 Assist with handling quick research requests (using the databases available to the
team or via secondary searches).
 Maintain an effective relationship with internal stakeholders from offices across the
world.
 Ensure the quality of information provision and look for ways in which this can be
improved.

 To personally support the business by ensuring the smooth provision of information
to the Company's editorial activities.
 Document the updates on time and make them easily accessible among the team.
Experience, skills, and professional attributes:
To succeed in the role you must have:
 Knowledge of secondary research resources (news search databases, company
financials databases, etc).
 Experience doing open web searches and collating required information from
various resources.
 Experience in electronic delivery of information.
 Communication skills, both internal and external.
 Documentation and record management.
 Good email writing skills.
 Experience: 4-5 years
To succeed in the role you must demonstrate:
 Excellent time and priority management.
 Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
 Quick learner.
 Able to take ownership and responsibility of the tasks assigned.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
 Prior experience working on Google Workspace would be an advantage.
 Exposure to a library management system would be an advantage.
 Interest in world affairs, economics, and politics.
 Experience in an administration role.
