Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Vehicle Controls and Simulation Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of vehicle control systems and simulations. Your expertise in control algorithms and collaboration with external partners will be pivotal in ensuring the safety, performance, and efficiency of our next-generation automotive technologies.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement innovative control algorithms for vehicle systems to optimize performance, stability, and safety.
  2. Lead and undertake the design, modelling, and simulation of vehicle dynamics and control systems using state-of-the-art simulation tools and libraries in Python and C.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate control strategies into the vehicle's electronic control units (ECUs).
  4. Conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to verify and push the limits of control algorithms
  5. Analyse and interpret simulation data to identify performance enhancements and revolutionize vehicle control strategies.
  6. Drive the validation of advanced control system functionality and performance through rigorous vehicle testing and validation, both in the lab and on-road.
  7. Champion the development of control system requirements, specifications, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to explore and implement the most inventive control technologies, fostering groundbreaking innovation and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in either Software, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related fields. A Master's or Ph.D. in Control Systems or a relevant discipline is preferred.
  2. Proven experience with each of the above 8 responsibilities.
  3. Experience in the design and implementation of software required to enable all relevant systems and hardware within a retrofittable EV kit to work correctly to highest performance, governance and safety project requirements.
  4. Proven experience (10+ years) in developing innovative control algorithms for automotive applications, including torque path, stability control, traction control, thermal management, battery management and adaptive cruise control.
  5. Expertise in the latest industry-standard simulation tools and libraries in Python and C
  6. Successful track record in driving vehicle control system development, implementation, and validation on embedded platforms.
  7. Proficiency in programming for algorithm implementation and simulation scripting, with a relentless desire to stay on the cutting edge.
  8. Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-time simulation environments.
  9. In-depth understanding of vehicle network communication protocols (CAN, LIN and Ethernet) and automotive ECU software architecture.
  10. Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for ensuring innovative control system designs are safe, robust and reliable.
  11. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, capable of rallying diverse teams and stakeholders around game-changing ideas.
  12. Insatiable appetite for innovation and a burning passion for advancing automotive technology to create a sustainable and connected world.
