Senior System Architect / Platform Engineer (AKS)

For our client in the financial sector, we are looking for a Senior System Architect/Engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes (AKS). You will be a key driver in building and scaling large-scale Kubernetes platforms, ensuring they are robust, secure, and future-proof.

🛠 What you’ll do

• Platform Architecture: Design and lead the construction of enterprise-grade Kubernetes platforms within a complex banking landscape.

• AKS Specialist: Act as the subject matter expert for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), optimizing clusters for performance, scalability, and high availability.

• Automation-First: Drive the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) and advanced CI/CD pipelines to automate platform delivery.

• Security & Compliance: Implement rigorous security controls and policy management (Azure Policy, OPA/Gatekeeper) to meet stringent financial regulations.

• Strategy & Vision: Step up from execution to high-level design, creating systemic diagrams and roadmaps for the future of the platform.

• Lead by Example: Guide engineering squads, establishing best practices for container orchestration and cloud-native architecture.

✅ What we’re looking for

• Senior Expertise: 7+ years in System Engineering or Architecture with a heavy focus on cloud-native technologies.

• K8s Mastery: Deep-dive knowledge of Kubernetes internals, networking (CNI), and storage.

• Azure Expert: Extensive experience with AKS and the broader Azure ecosystem.

• Automation Pro: Proficient in Terraform and building complex pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

• Soft Skills: A calm, productive problem-solver who can navigate high uncertainty and complex stakeholder environments.

• Language: Excellent communication skills in English.

• No sponsorship is available, and candidates must already reside in the Netherlands.
