IBM System Architect

For one of our enterprise clients, we are looking for an IBM System Architect. You will be the technical authority for the IBM i (AS/400) landscape, driving enterprise architecture and ensuring the system remains a robust, integrated part of the global IT environment.
What you’ll do
- Lead the technical architecture for the IBM i system, ensuring it meets high-scale enterprise standards.
- Design and govern complex integrations between IBM i and the broader enterprise IT landscape.
- Oversee system health, performance, and scalability, acting as the primary technical point of contact.
- Guide and mentor a highly skilled technical team, leveraging their deep internal knowledge to drive innovation.
- Develop long-term roadmaps for the platform, balancing stability with modern architectural trends.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align system capabilities with overarching business goals.
What we’re looking for
- Senior-level experience in IBM System Architecture.
- Expert Knowledge of IBM i: Deep understanding of the system, its internals, and its ecosystem.
- Enterprise Architecture Skills: Proven ability to design solutions within a large-scale, complex IT environment.
- Leadership Qualities: Ability to influence technical teams and translate complex architecture for stakeholders.
- Technical Breadth: Strong grip on security, networking, and modern integration patterns (e.g., APIs, Cloud) for legacy systems.
- Analytical Mindset: Proactive in identifying bottlenecks and architectural gaps.
- Fluent in English + NL residency (no sponsorship).
Tooling: IBM i (AS/400), DB2, RPG/LE, SQL, Enterprise Architecture frameworks, API Management tools.
Nice to have
- Experience with modernizing legacy platforms to cloud-hybrid environments.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices specifically for IBM i.
- Dutch language skills are a plus but not required.
