Infra/DevOps Engineer

Overview

For our client, a leading international financial institution, we are looking for a SAS Infrastructure Engineer to join their Infra team. You will design, automate, and maintain Business Intelligence environments built on SAS 9 and SAS Viya (3.5 / 4), supporting large-scale analytics and reporting platforms. The role focuses on platform lifecycle management, automation, compliance, and operational excellence within a modern DevOps environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, and administer SAS 9 and SAS Viya platforms (3.5 & 4)
• Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
• Automate deployments using Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD via Azure DevOps
• Manage GKE and/or AKS clusters for SAS environments
• Develop automation scripts in Python, Shell, or PowerShell
• Oversee lifecycle and release management processes
• Apply backup/restore and disaster recovery principles
• Maintain monitoring, CMDB, and automation standards (e.g. GCP Monitoring)
• Write and maintain technical documentation and runbooks
• Collaborate daily in Agile/Scrum/DevOps teams

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or similar technical field
• Proven experience in SAS 9 or SAS Viya platform administration
• Strong Linux (RHEL) background and automation expertise
• Hands-on skills with Ansible, Azure DevOps, and Python
• Familiarity with CI/CD setups and version-control systems (e.g. GIT)
• Experience in high-performing Agile IT teams
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written

Nice to Have

• Experience with GCP or Azure infrastructure management
• Knowledge of Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools
• Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes)
• SAS certification or willingness to learn SAS administration quickly

Project Context

• Viya 3.5 runs in Azure; Viya 4 is being deployed on GCP for internal platforms.
• Both environments are in different lifecycle stages – one in stabilization, one in build and rollout phase.
• Engineers are expected to bring a cloud-agnostic mindset, solving challenges creatively beyond specific vendor tools.
• The team includes experienced international engineers working collaboratively with SAS Netherlands and internal client teams.
• Candidates may later be asked to mentor or coach new engineers in SAS platform operations.
