About the Role

The Observability & Insights team at De winkel van ons allemaal | bol ensures visibility, stability, and performance across the company’s vast cloud landscape.
You’ll help evolve and maintain the monitoring, logging, and alerting stack that supports dozens of development teams building on GCP and GKE.

Your work keeps engineers informed and systems resilient — from small dependency upgrades to major infrastructure improvements (Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana). You’ll also play a key role in scaling and right-sizing our Kubernetes deployments, while contributing to a culture of reliability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Team & Process

• Align with core working hours (9:00 – 17:00) and join the team onsite (Thursdays).

• Participate in sprint ceremonies, design sessions, and the Engineer-on-Duty rotation (weekly, 08:00 – 18:00).

Technical Ownership

• Manage and deliver the technical backlog, including ~65 Renovate upgrade tasks.

• Plan and execute major platform upgrades (ElasticSearch, Grafana, Prometheus).

• Maintain deployment pipelines, test automation, and monitor build stability.

• Support incident triage and resolution for metrics/logging across product teams.

• Continuously refine observability tooling to improve automation and developer experience.

• Assess, tune, and right-size Kubernetes workloads for cost and performance efficiency.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (GKE).

• Solid Linux administration background.

• Experience with Elastic (ELK stack), Prometheus, and Grafana.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native monitoring patterns.
