The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing and ensuring the delivery of effective, secure, and scalable ICT solutions for a specific business domain.
They translate business needs into technical solutions that align with the architecture standards of the CIO Office and the operational guidelines of Operations and Distributed Services.
Organizational Context
Within our client’s IT organization, development departments are responsible for delivering new or updated ICT applications on time, within budget, and with the right quality.
The Senior DevOps Engineer works as part of these departments and defines the best possible technical solutions that meet both business and operational requirements.
The role involves collaboration with:
- Project Managers, Developers, and Information Analysts
- Infrastructure and Operations teams
- Enterprise Architects and the CIO Office
- Business stakeholders and external ICT vendors
- Partner organizations in joint ICT projects
Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture and Design
- Design and develop the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) foundation for SAP solutions.
- Engineer, automate, and optimize the cloud infrastructure using Terraform and GitHub.
- Ensure that Security and FinOps principles are integrated into all designs.
- Define clear, feasible ICT solutions that meet business requirements and follow enterprise architecture standards.
- Provide technical guidance and design documentation for development and infrastructure teams.
2. Implementation Support
- Support project teams in implementing the designed ICT solutions.
- Review detailed designs and ensure they align with the agreed architecture.
- Troubleshoot and assist service teams with operational issues on the GCP SAP foundation.
- Provide input for testing, deployment, and service level agreements (SLAs).
3. Governance and Compliance
- Ensure all solutions comply with corporate architecture and operational standards.
- Participate in architecture review meetings and document key design decisions.
- Advise on technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Stay up to date with new technologies and methods in cloud, DevOps, and infrastructure engineering.
- Contribute to improving architecture frameworks, standards, and design practices.
- Share knowledge and provide technical mentoring to colleagues.
Requirements
Education & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ICT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, especially networking, security, and landing zone design.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and GitHub.
- Understanding of ICT development processes, cloud architectures, and automation practices.
- Good understanding of data and information architecture.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or ICT Architect.
- Experience designing and delivering complex cloud-based solutions.
