Backend Python Engineer

We’re kicking off one of the coolest projects with one of our retail clients, and we’re looking for a skilled Backend Python Engineer to join the team. You’ll be part of an exciting initiative where technology and retail meet, working with a modern stack and shaping a platform that will handle data at scale.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in collaborative environments, values high-quality engineering, and enjoys building reliable systems that make an impact.

What you’ll do

• Design and build robust, scalable APIs using FastAPI & Pydantic (model validation, response models).
• Write clean, testable code with a strong focus on unit and integration testing.
• Work with Python async/await to build efficient, resilient backend services with proper error handling.
• Apply solid engineering practices: Git, CI/CD pipelines, containerization with Docker.
• Collaborate on cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Contribute to data-heavy environments with opportunities to apply data ingestion/streaming patterns.
• Engage in pair/mob programming sessions and thrive in an open feedback culture.
• Learn quickly, adapt, and bring curiosity and energy to a fast-moving project.

What we’re looking for

• 3–5 years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong Python programming skills (OOP).
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI & Pydantic.
• Familiarity with data-intensive applications.
• Solid grasp of engineering fundamentals and system design.
• Proactive, collaborative, and eager to grow.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks or Unity Catalog.
• Interest in data-related technologies and how they shape businesses.
• Knowledge of domain modeling in backend contexts.
• Familiarity with OAuth2-based authorization flows.
• Pragmatic mindset: balancing innovation with shipping, maintainability, security, and cost efficiency.
