Senior Data & AI Platform Engineer

The Data & AI Platform serves as the central hub for all data-related transversal technical services across Air France and KLM. Our mission is to provide tools, enablers, and support to both business and IT product teams—ensuring a future-proof, efficient, and innovative technology landscape.

The platform is structured into 8 specialized teams, each focusing on a specific audience or technology area. Together, they deliver:

Self-service tooling
Architecture guidelines
Training and support
A sustainable innovation roadmap

Role Overview

As a Senior Data & AI Platform Engineer (Cloud), you will play a key role in supporting and empowering product teams with the tools and best practices they need to develop high-quality data pipelines. You will provide consultancy, proactive technical support, and continuously seek opportunities to optimize and automate processes.

You will be part of a community of platform engineers, working within the broader Data, OR & AI department.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a trusted advisor for product teams, providing guidance on platform tooling and best practices.
Deliver proactive support and consultancy on incoming queries and platform usage.
Improve the quality and efficiency of platform capabilities through automation and innovation.
Ensure the platform's tech stack is aligned with future needs and organizational standards.
Support the adoption of DevOps and CI/CD principles.
Collaborate closely with other platform teams to align roadmaps and architectural guidelines.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (may be substituted with relevant experience).
Minimum of 4 years’ experience building and maintaining production-grade data processing systems.
Proven experience supporting data engineering teams in an enterprise environment.

Technical Skills:

Strong experience with cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform).
Expertise in ETL tooling such as Informatica IDMC or equivalent.
Proficiency in cloud-based data warehousing and advanced SQL.
Familiarity with FinOps practices and cost optimization.
Hands-on experience with Git, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines.
Proficient in Terraform, Docker, Ansible.
Strong programming skills in Python for automation tasks.
Good understanding of software development life cycle and agile methodologies.

Soft Skills:

Proactive and self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.
Experience in training or mentoring data engineers.
