The Mission

Our client is building a powerful and cloud-native analytics platform designed to support real-time and batch risk calculations for financial markets. The platform enables key business functions such as derivatives pricing, Value at Risk (VaR), XVA, and PFE, serving both trading and risk management across multiple global regions.

The Data, Analysis and Reporting Environment (DARE) initiative focuses on delivering fast, secure, and reliable insights through Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It enables critical decision-making by offering scalable reporting and analytics capabilities.

As a Looker Expert, you will play a pivotal role in designing and optimizing Looker dashboards and LookML models that power these insights. You’ll work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to transform data into actionable intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Looker dashboards, explores, and LookML models to support risk and pricing analytics.

• Translate complex business needs into efficient, scalable BI solutions.

• Improve Looker performance by refining LookML, minimizing query complexity, and applying best practices like aggregate awareness and PDTs.

• Implement cost-optimization strategies in Looker and BigQuery (e.g., reducing data scans, optimizing job schedules).

• Partner with data engineering teams to align pipelines with Looker requirements.

• Establish data governance, access control, and data lineage within Looker.

• Promote Looker adoption via training, documentation, and user support.

• Contribute to the BI architecture and development standards within the analytics platform.

• Ensure all solutions adhere to high standards of data quality, security, and performance.

• Operate in an Agile environment alongside international colleagues across multiple European locations.

Your Profile

Must-Have Experience

• 5+ years in BI development, including 2+ years of Looker/LookML expertise.

• Strong command of SQL and experience with relational databases and cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform tools (BigQuery, CloudRun, GCS, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, etc.).

• Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data visualization best practices.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and documentation.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Hands-on with dbt and Terraform.

• Knowledge of financial risk metrics or derivatives pricing.

• Experience with metadata management, data governance, and automated testing.
