As a Front-End Engineer, you'll help build the Rabobank Design System—ensuring a stable, consistent, and accessible foundation for all our digital customer journeys.
Your Role: Front-End Engineer – Design System
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced front-end engineer to join Squad Lithium, one of the teams responsible for maintaining and evolving our web component library. This library serves 150+ feature squads across Rabobank’s digital channels and is a cornerstone of our internal Rabo Online Platform.
You’ll help develop and maintain performant, accessible, and brand-consistent components that accelerate front-end delivery across the bank. Your impact will be seen and felt by millions of users every day.
What You'll Do
Practical Examples

Build accessible, user-friendly web components for internal use across all Rabobank digital products.

Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to prepare sprint-ready user stories.

Work alongside two other Design System squads to deliver a unified and scalable platform.
Your Top 3 Responsibilities

Topic Ownership – Take charge of a dedicated area (e.g., accessibility, internationalization, deprecations), preparing and executing improvements independently.

Collaboration – Participate in democratic team decision-making; share ideas and feedback in an open, respectful environment.

Ensure Quality – Maintain a high standard by focusing on legacy support, consistent APIs, and backward compatibility—even if that means delaying features for better long-term outcomes.
About Squad Lithium
We’re a close-knit, collaborative team of experienced engineers. We care deeply about code quality, accessibility, and user experience. There’s no hierarchy—just shared ownership, accountability, and a constant drive to improve. You’ll work closely with UX and Design, as well as with other Design System teams to align on product strategy and execution.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

Solid grasp of web accessibility (WCAG, ARIA).

Experience writing unit and end-to-end tests.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
Bonus Points

Experience with Web Components (e.g., Stencil, Lit).

Experience with Angular or React.
