Position: MLOps Engineer – Visual Search Project (Bol.com)

About the Project
Bol.com is initiating a new team within its Search department to explore and build a visual search experience within the mobile app (Android/iOS). The goal is to enhance the customer journey by integrating a visual component into the product discovery process.
This greenfield initiative involves developing both frontend and backend components and aims to deliver working prototypes and a shippable MVP that integrates with the existing platform landscape.
Team Composition
The new team will consist of a mix of internal employees and external contractors and include:
- Mobile Developer(s)
- Backend Developer(s)
- Data Scientist(s) with a focus on image processing
- MLOps Engineer (this role)
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain ML deployment pipelines
- Set up scalable CI/CD workflows
- Containerize and orchestrate services using Docker and Kubernetes
- Integrate ML model serving frameworks and deployment patterns
- Implement monitoring and logging systems
- Collaborate closely with developers and data scientists in an agile setup
- Ensure production-readiness and system integration within the larger architecture
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience with ML CI/CD pipelines
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience deploying ML models using serving frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe)
- Cloud platform experience (preferably GCP; AWS or Azure also acceptable)
- Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent
Required Experience & Profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in MLOps or a similar role
- Proven experience with computer vision projects
- Track record of successful production deployments
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience working in agile environments
- Deadline-driven and solution-oriented
- Team player with collaborative mindset
