Join Our AdTech Cluster as a Fullstack Engineer!
Retail media is booming—and we’re building a cutting-edge platform to empower all Ahold brands across Europe with a complete retail media suite for media monetization. This is a high-traffic, SaaS-based environment that will serve around 15 different brands.
How You’ll Reinvent Food Retail
As a Fullstack Engineer, you’ll be a key player in our scrum team, contributing to products like Sponsored Products, Digital Out-of-Home, and Display Ads. You’ll:

Take ownership of specific product areas within our media suite.

Improve and develop new features with scalability in mind.

Be deeply connected to the product—you build it, you own it.

Collaborate closely with the product owner and business teams to ideate and implement new features and technologies.

Embrace the complexity of developing a multi-brand SaaS solution.

Ensure quality by writing automated end-to-end tests and maintaining high code standards.

Think beyond your own product area to understand the broader suite.

Proactively take initiative and continuously drive improvements.
About the Cluster, the Office, and the Product
You’ll join the AdTech Cluster, focused on building and implementing a retail media SaaS platform for Ahold Delhaize brands across Europe.
What is Retail Media?
It’s about monetizing our digital and physical spaces by selling advertising at key customer touchpoints:

Promote products like Tony Chocolonely when customers search for chocolate online.

Display ads on digital screens in and outside our stores.

Show branded banners on homepages and category pages.

And more—this is a fast-growing, innovative space with lots of untapped potential.
You’ll work on Gambit, our retail media suite, built for flexibility, efficiency, and scale. With a scale-up vibe, the cluster currently includes 10 teams—and growing. We operate with a mature, agile mindset (no strict frameworks), giving you room to shine.
Your specific team will focus on offline media—helping advertisers reach in-store customers through printed media like stickers and wobblers.

The Ingredients for Maximum Impact

5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer with Kotlin/Java.

Strong experience in Kotlin/Java (version 11+), Microservices, and ideally Kafka, Postgres, and APIs.

Proficiency in TypeScript and Next.js for frontend development is essential.

Solid understanding of DevOps practices and operational responsibility—ensuring reliable, performant systems.

Familiarity with CI/CD in a cloud environment (MS Azure/AKS preferred).

A team player who understands the importance of cross-team collaboration and end-to-end ownership—including testing, observability, and performance.

Bonus: Experience in retail media.

Fluent in English.

Enthusiastic about teamwork, greenfield development, and building things that matter.
