Backend Developer – AdTech (Albert Heijn Integrations)

About the Team:

Our AdTech team is entering an exciting growth phase as we take the next step in integrating the Adhese platform for Albert Heijn. We're building resilient and scalable systems that ensure seamless collaboration between multiple partners, empowering them to effectively display their products.

We work at the intersection of advertising, data, and software engineering—building tools that drive visibility and performance. As integration complexity increases, we prioritize robust software development with a strong emphasis on End-to-End testing using real-world data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop backend services in Kotlin using Spring Boot.

• Implement and maintain asynchronous communication patterns using tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Build reliable, scalable, and testable systems that can handle complex integrations between external partners.

• Create and maintain End-to-End automated tests using real data to ensure product integrity.

• Participate in and facilitate technical discussions across teams and partner organizations.

• Raise concerns proactively and champion long-term, sustainable solutions over short-term workarounds.

What We're Looking For:

Technical Skills:

• Strong experience with Kotlin and Spring Boot.

• Solid understanding of asynchronous systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).

• Hands-on experience with End-to-End test automation, preferably using production-like data.

• Understanding of software resilience patterns and distributed systems.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communicator able to collaborate across teams and external stakeholders.

• Proactive mindset; you take initiative and drive solutions forward.

• Thoughtful decision-maker who values maintainable code over quick fixes.

• Comfortable voicing concerns and contributing to a healthy team dialogue.
