Intern - Circular Economy and Materials (3 months)

What We Do Systemiq orchestrates system change in clean energy, circular material solutions, and sustainable land use. This involves re-imagining industries, re-configuring the energy world, and regenerating ecosystems to address systemic failures, unlocking economic opportunities that benefit business, society, and the environment.

 

Join Systemiq's Circular Economy and Materials platform as an Intern to support emerging initiatives on sustainable resource use. Collaborate on developing global governance solutions aligned with SDGs to accelerate system change across economies. Work directly with Janez Potočnik (Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel and Partner at Systemiq) and a small, dynamic team to shape transformative conceps and mobilise a growing network of stakeholders. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support research and writing on global resource governance gaps and solution pathways
  • Help articulate the mission logic, value-add, and functions of emerging institutional ideas
  • Assist in mapping and mobilizing strategic stakeholders (science, policy, civil society, international organisations)
  • Contribute to communications and outreach materials (briefings, slide decks, notes)
  • Provide light admin support (e.g. contact tracking, meeting prep, follow-up)

Required Skills: 

  • Keen interest in global science-policy developments on resource use and their circular economy
  • Strong synthesis and writing skills (e.g. through experience with creating policy briefs, science articles, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of sustainability, international governance, and systems thinking
  • Research experience and confidence working in agile environments
  • Motivation to work in a dynamic, exploratory, and impact-oriented team

Language: English 

Time: 100% (Full-time). 1st August - 31st October 2025 (with the possibility of extension until December 2025)
