About ANALYTIQ – the SYSTEMIQ analytics backbone 

World-class analytics plays a vital role in driving true system-level change, serving as a key ingredient in the process. That's why SYSTEMIQ has ANALYTIQ, a dedicated core unit designed to apply top-tier analytics to address the most complex system challenges. 

ANALYTIQ harnesses a diverse array of analytical methodologies, from power and material flow modelling to GIS modelling, as well as digital app development, which ranges from creating simple dashboards to designing tailor-made web applications. We employ these techniques to accelerate transitions across all SYSTEMIQ impact platforms, including energy, materials, sustainable finance, nature, and cities.  

We have a long track-record of making system-changing impact with our analytics, as seen in Mission Possible Partnership, Breaking the Plastic Wave, Plastic IQ, PlastSimulator, Regeneration, and ⁠SPACES among others. We are now looking to further scale our 15 people ANALYTIQ team and expand our impact. 

Position 

We're seeking a talented full stack engineer with geospatial experience to join our ANALYTIQ team. In this role, you'll work across all our platform areas, leveraging your skills to create first-rate analytical models that address a myriad of topics.  

Your work will involve collaboration with leading institutions in the field. This international role is aimed at delivering substantial, system-level impact on the world. You'll become part of a dynamic team of analytic experts who are dedicated to fostering system change through their work.

Requirements 

We're seeking individuals with a strong analytical track record, proven achievements, and impactful problem-solving skills. You've demonstrated your abilities in various contexts and have an interest in contributing to an entrepreneurial environment where your work can make a significant impact. This role is available in our offices in London, Amsterdam or Munich. 

Responsibilities: 

• Develop, deploy, and maintain ANALYTIQ's suite of software and web-based applications to enhance the impact on SYSTEMIQ project teams. 

• Develop and maintain robust data engineering pipelines across programs and platforms. 

• Collaborate with development and project teams to deliver insights to SYSTEMIQ's impact partners. 

• Engage with SYSTEMIQ’s partners and the broader sustainability analytics community to stay current with the latest methods and technologies for projects. 

Skills / Experience: 

Required 

• Quantitative/analytical background, owning a master’s degree or higher in computer science, natural sciences, engineering, mathematics or equivalent area 

• Minimum 2-3 years of professional work experience. 

• Python programme language proficiency. 

• Development experience and interest in building full-stack and low-code applications (Dash, Django, Flask) 

• Experience with data pipeline tools and ETL processes, including working with geospatial datasets. 

• Knowledge of relational databases and/or NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra 

• Excellent working knowledge and experience working with GitHub. 

• A willingness to learn a broader set of skills to deliver impact. 

Beneficial additional skills 

• Knowledge of additional programming language, i.e., HTML, CCS and JS/TS 

• Knowledge of distributed systems like Hadoop and Spark as well as cloud computing platforms such as Azure and AWS 

• Experience building geospatial web applications, managing large geospatial datasets, working with key python libraries (GeoPandas, Rasterio, GDAL, xarray), and working with PostGIS and other tool to be able to efficiently deploy large geospatial data layers.
