Lead Brand Designer

London

Welcome to the video first world

From your everyday PowerPoint presentations to Hollywood movies, AI will transform the way we create and consume content. Today, people want to watch and listen, not read — both at home and at work. If you’re reading this and nodding, check out our recent Synthesia 2.0 event.

Despite the clear preference for video, communication and knowledge sharing in the business environment are still dominated by text, largely because high-quality video production remains complex and challenging to scale—until now….

Meet Synthesia

We're on a mission to make video easy for everyone. Born in an AI lab, our AI video communications platform simplifies the entire video production process, making it easy for everyone, regardless of skill level, to create, collaborate, and share high-quality videos. Whether it's for delivering essential training to employees and customers or marketing products and services, Synthesia enables large organizations to communicate and share knowledge through video quickly and efficiently. We’re trusted by leading brands such as Heineken, Zoom, Xerox, McDonald’s and more. Read stories from happy customers and what 1,200+ people say on G2.

In 2023, we were one of 7 European companies to reach unicorn status. In February 2024, G2 named us as the fastest growing company in the world. We’ve raised over $150M in funding from top-tier investors, including Accel, Nvidia, Kleiner Perkins, Google and top founders and operators including Stripe, Datadog, Miro, Webflow, and Facebook.

What You Will Be Doing…

As our Lead Brand Designer, you'll help shape and evolve Synthesia's visual identity, collaborating closely with the Head of Brand Design and the rest of the Brand Design team. You'll lead and inspire a talented team focused on web design, events, and internal brand applications, ensuring our visual identity shines across every touchpoint, and being super hands on designing.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Evolve the Brand: Set the vision and drive continuous innovation in our visual identity, from high-level concepts to detailed execution, aligning closely with company strategy and growth.
  • Creative Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop your team of designers, fostering an environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and consistently high-quality output.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally with marketing, product, content, sales, and leadership, amongst others, to ensure brand consistency and alignment across all initiatives.
  • Creative Direction: Provide strategic and creative oversight for major initiatives, including digital assets, marketing collateral, video storytelling, presentations, events, and product communications.
  • Design Systems and Guidelines: Develop and maintain scalable design systems, ensuring consistency and efficiency across digital, print, and social media channels. Document clear guidelines and best practices to empower the wider team.
  • Motion & Video: Lead and oversee the creation of dynamic motion graphics and engaging video content to amplify brand storytelling and user experiences.
  • Quality Assurance: Set and uphold rigorous standards of design quality, ensuring all deliverables meet a high standard of excellence, clarity, and polish.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven Experience: 6+ years in brand design, ideally within high-growth tech startups or B2B SaaS companies, with a track record of driving impactful, strategic brand initiatives.
  • Outstanding Portfolio: Demonstrable excellence across various design projects, highlighting your role in strategic brand evolution, digital and web design, campaigns, and motion/animation projects.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience managing and mentoring design teams, with the ability to inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and maintain alignment with brand vision.
  • Creative and Strategic Thinker: Skilled at balancing creative innovation with strategic objectives, ensuring design solutions align with broader business goals.
  • Exceptional Collaboration: Experienced in partnering effectively across departments, including marketing, product, content, and executive leadership.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Experience building and managing Design Systems.
    • Solid understanding of UI/UX design principles, especially for digital experiences.
    • Strong, proven experience with creating storyboards for motion graphics and animation.
    • Proficiency in AI Tools such as Midjourney, DALL-E, and Runway, with the ability to leverage AI for creative ideation and efficient design workflows.
  • Meticulous Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes even when juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate and justify design decisions clearly to stakeholders at every level.
  • Self-Starter: An organised, pragmatic streak since startups can (occasionally!) be a bit chaotic. You're comfortable figuring things out when faced with ambiguity.

Bonus points

  • You have experience designing booths and installations for conferences and events.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
