Process Execution Engineer

WHO WE ARE

Syntetica is a rapidly growing startup on a mission to decarbonize the textile industry through textile-to-textile recycling — starting with nylon.

Today, most synthetic textiles are made from crude oil, and less than 1% are recycled back into new fibers. We're here to change that. At Syntetica, we’ve developed a patented depolymerization process that breaks down nylon-rich textile waste into virgin-equivalent nylon monomers — while separating materials like elastane, polyester, and cotton for further recycling.

To date, we’ve raised >€7M from leading investors including EQT Ventures, the family offices of Peugeot and Etam, BPI France and Entrepreneur First.

We’ve already forged key partnerships with major textile players like Victoria’s Secret and ETAM — as well as leading fast fashion, sportswear and automotive brands — and have assembled a core team of 15 experts.

If you want to help bring truly circular materials to global scale — and solve one of the textile industry’s biggest sustainability challenges — come build with us.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a hands-on, team-oriented process engineer with an aptitude for learning new things and a desire to have a positive impact towards the green transition. You will directly shape the design and delivery of our demonstration and industrial plants by working at the interface between process development and plant implementation, translating pilot-scale learnings into equipment, controls, and operating facilities. You have a collaborative mindset, strong technical judgment, and a desire to help bring new industrial technology to commercial reality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the process engineering scope for key unit operations, translating pilot and R&D results into detailed plant designs, equipment specifications, control strategies, and operating requirements for the demonstration plant.
  • Lead process design reviews and development of engineering documentation, with particular focus on P&IDs, control philosophies, equipment integration, operability, maintainability, and safe plant operation.
  • Contribute to safety, operability, and performance reviews (HAZID/HAZOP, bottleneck analyses, optimization plans) and drive the implementation of corrective and improvement actions.
  • Work closely with equipment suppliers and external engineering partners throughout detailed design, procurement, FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up to ensure systems are delivered and perform as intended.
  • Support commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and performance optimization activities, identifying and resolving technical issues across process, equipment, and control systems.
  • Consolidate operational learnings from pilot and demonstration activities into design standards, scale-up assumptions, and engineering requirements for future commercial facilities.
  • Invest in our company values and vision and champion them as we grow.

BACKGROUND & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, commissioning, or operating industrial process facilities, preferably in chemical, materials, metallurgical, or related industries.
  • Experience developing and reviewing P&IDs, equipment specifications, control narratives, and process safety documentation for industrial projects.
  • Hands-on involvement in equipment procurement, FAT/SAT execution, commissioning, start-up, or plant troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with equipment vendors, EPCs, operators, and R&D teams.
  • Experience with purification, solid-liquid separation, filtration, crystallization, or related unit operations is highly valued.
  • Well-organized and practical approach to problem solving, driven by curiosity and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; ability to figure out what needs to be done—and then do it.

At Syntetica, we are a dynamic group of individuals, united by a common mission, who believe our diversity is key to our success. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive work environment, dedicated to a policy of non-discrimination on any basis.
