A key part of the role will be strengthening and maintaining robust balance sheet reconciliations, supporting timely and accurate reporting, and working closely with external auditors and finance partners.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating across multiple entities, understand the importance of local compliance, and be confident working with stakeholders across the business.
What you'll be doing:

- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and other month-end adjustments.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in line with company policy and local requirements.
- Maintain strong control over the month-end close process to support timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, resolving reconciling items promptly and improving overall control environment.
- Support the preparation of profit and loss, balance sheet, and other management reporting schedules.
Process Improvement
- Identify, implement, and embed improvements to accounting processes and controls, particularly around balance sheet reconciliations and close activities.
- Drive a more efficient and well-documented approach to financial processes across the Spain and Netherlands entities.
- Support continuous improvement in reporting quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Reporting, Compliance & Audit
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting deliverables.
- Work with external auditors, local partners, and other advisors to provide timely schedules, working papers, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure accounting treatment is aligned with local GAAP requirements for Spain and the Netherlands, alongside group reporting requirements.
- Assist with statutory reporting and year-end financial statement preparation as required.
- Support finance compliance activities, with local tax knowledge considered an advantage.
Business Partnering
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather information and ensure accounting entries are complete and accurate.
- Work collaboratively with group finance and local external partners to ensure efficient reporting and issue resolution.
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong financial control.
What we are looking for:
- Part-qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA), or equivalent progress toward qualification.
- Previous experience in an Accountant or Management Accountant-style role, ideally with ownership of legal entities or country ledgers.
- Strong experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- A track record of implementing or improving financial processes and controls.
- Good understanding of local GAAP principles; experience across Spain and/or the Netherlands would be highly beneficial.
- Experience working with external auditors and third-party finance or accounting partners.
- Ability to prepare accurate reporting packs, schedules, and reconciliations to tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a hands-on, proactive mindset.
- Confidence working independently while also collaborating effectively with wider finance and business teams.
- Good systems knowledge, including ERP or finance systems; experience with Dynamics 365 would be advantageous.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Spanish language skills would be an advantage.
- Understanding of local taxes would be a distinct advantage.
