Finance Manager

Stitch is a payments infrastructure company on a mission to make it easier for enterprise businesses to connect to the financial system and build better experiences for their customers.

We are expanding the team to enable Stitch to broaden our product offering and extend our geographical footprint.

The Financial Manager co-manages Stitch’s daily financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform bank reconciliations: identify and resolve discrepancies to maintain financial integrity.
  2. Maintain asset and fixed asset registers: keep track of asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
  3. Review monthly payroll records: assist in reviewing payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance, and collaborate with People Team to address any discrepancies.
  4. Prepare, maintain, and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable records monthly:
    • Handle accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, verifying expenses, and issuing payments.
    • Manage accounts receivable activities, such as generating invoices, tracking payments, and reconciling customer accounts.
  5. Generate monthly reports detailing accounts payable and accounts receivable
  6. Assist in the preparation of management accounts of the business, including balance sheets, income statements, and other statements as required:
    • Support the finance team in compiling financial statements for management reporting.
    • Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of financial data.
  7. Propose best financial practices (including policies and procedures) within the business to enhance financial operations.
  8. Provide support during the annual financial audit
    • Collaborate with auditors and assist in the preparation of audit schedules.
    • Gather and organise financial documents to facilitate the audit process.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience as a financial manager or financial accountant
  • Good understanding of IFRS and related accounting and financial principles and practices
  • BCom (or equivalent) in accounting, finance or relevant field
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • An analytical acumen and strong communication skills
  • Corporate tax structuring and tax advisory experience

Advantageous

  • Knowledge of the local Fintech, Open-Banking and Payments space
  • Experience working in B2B SaaS, API or Payments companies
  • Skilled in Xero and MS Excel (Python, SQL a bonus)
  • Qualifications such as CA(SA) or CIMA or SAIPA
