As we continue to expand our business, we are seeking a curious and passionate individual to join our team as the Security Engineer (f/m/d) and drive our business forward. 

What Will Your Role Be

As a Security Engineer (f/m/d) at Spreadgroup, you will play a key role in strengthening the security of our digital platforms — with a particular emphasis on web application security, data protection, and the overall security posture of our services.

You will drive the advancement of critical security components such as authentication and Identity & Access Management (IAM). Additionally, you will be responsible for evaluating, deploying, and managing security tools and technologies that support secure software development and operations.

In close collaboration with other teams, you will foster a security-first mindset across the organization. You’ll proactively identify and assess threats, prioritize remediation efforts, and contribute to the overall resilience of our platforms.

What You´ll Do 

• Strengthen Spreadgroup’s platforms with a focus on Web Application Security, ensuring data protection and compliance with relevant security standards.
• Drive the further development of security-critical core components, including authentication and IAM solutions.
• Evaluate, implement, and manage security tools (e.g. static code analysis, Web Application Firewalls) to continuously improve our security posture.
• Develop and automate security testing scenarios using standard tools or custom-built solutions.
• Serve as a security advisor to development teams, promoting secure coding practices and threat awareness.
• Collaboratively analyze and assess threat scenarios, prioritize issues, and coordinate effective mitigation strategies.

What You´ll Bring

• Strong background in software architecture and development, especially in Java and modern web technologies (e.g. Spring Boot, Next.js), with a solid understanding of secure coding practices.
• Hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure security (e.g. AWS, Azure), including IAM, encryption, network segmentation, policy-based access control, and incident response in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Linux environments and container technologies like Docker.
• Experience with distributed systems and a solid grasp of their inherent security challenges.
• Ability to drive architectural decisions and contribute to long-term security roadmaps.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• In-depth knowledge of security principles, cryptography, secure authentication/authorization, and secure application design.
• Fluent in English and German.
