Junior Accountant
About the role
As an Accountant at Sporty Group's Madrid office, you'll be responsible for supporting the financial operations across multiple countries within our diverse portfolio of businesses, which spans media, production, tech and marketing verticals. You'll work closely with a Senior accountant to ensure accurate financial record-keeping, efficient payment processing, and compliance with local regulations while supporting the day-to-day operational needs of our international operations.

Starting with supervised responsibilities in core accounting functions, you'll be expected to develop independence and take on additional responsibilities including local reporting and budget tracking as you progress. What you'll be doing
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes across multiple countries, ensuring timely and accurate transaction processing and collections
- Execute payment processing and financial administrative tasks, maintaining comprehensive transaction records across all business lines
- Monitor and analyze account aging reports to support effective cash flow management across international operations
- Organize and archive financial documentation while maintaining systematic filing procedures
- Reconcile internal accounting records with statutory accounts to ensure accuracy
- Coordinate with the external accounting firm on compliance matters, information exchange, invoicing, supporting documentation, and resolving day-to-day billing queries
- Support month-end closing activities, which feed into group-level performance reporting
- Maintain proficiency in Excel and ERP systems to streamline accounting processes and reporting
- Collaborate with the finance team to establish and improve financial procedures and controls, including supporting process automation initiatives
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (ADE - Administración de Empresas), Economics, Finance, or a related field
- Ideally 2 years of accounting experience with demonstrated competency in core accounting functions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably QuickBooks or Xero
- Strong command of both Spanish and English, with ability to communicate effectively in professional settings
- Understanding of VAT regulations and familiarity with Spanish GAAP (PGC) or IFRS accounting standards.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate financial records
- Proactive mindset with willingness to learn and grow into independent responsibilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-country business environment
- Interest in sports and understanding of the industry is a plus
