Mid vMix Operator
About the role
The Mid vMix Operator will be responsible for operating live and recorded productions using vMix, ensuring proper technical execution of switching, graphics integration, input management, and media playback. This professional plays a key role in supporting SportyNet’s broadcasts by working closely with production, editorial, design, and technical teams.
The Mid vMix Operator must ensure operational stability, visual and audio quality, and smooth execution during live shows, sports broadcasts, interviews, and special programming, acting as an essential link between junior operators and senior operators.
What you'll be doing
Live Production Operation (vMix)
- Operate vMix in real time during live shows, match broadcasts, interviews, and digital streams
- Execute cuts, transitions, overlays, VTs, and lower-thirds according to the rundown
- Manage inputs, camera sources, basic graphics, and media assets
- Ensure precise and fluid operation throughout the broadcast
Technical Preparation & Basic Configuration
- Prepare vMix sessions with intermediate complexity (inputs, overlays, templates)
- Adjust basic audio and video settings (levels, sync, simple mixes)
- Organize assets, folders, and elements prior to each production
- Assist with pre-show testing and technical checks
Remote Guest Management
- Operate remote guest inputs via vMix Call or similar platforms
- Check audio, video, connection stability, and latency before going live
- Provide basic technical support to remote participants if needed
Collaboration with Internal Teams
- Work with producers to understand the rundown, segment flow, and required elements
- Integrate graphics, overlays, and visual assets prepared by the design team
- Coordinate with MCR and technical operations for timing, breaks, and VT delivery
- Ensure correct execution of commercial inserts and sponsored elements, when applicable
Quality Control During Broadcasts
- Monitor audio and video consistency throughout the live production
- Report technical issues immediately and act under the guidance of senior operators or engineering
- Ensure operational accuracy to avoid on-air errors
Development, Growth & Operational Support
- Develop skills to handle more advanced vMix configurations over time
- Support senior operators in complex technical productions
- Participate in training sessions, software updates, and system tests
- Contribute to workflow improvements and template organization
What you'll bring
- Degree in Audiovisual Production, Broadcasting, Media Technology, or related fields
- Prior experience operating vMix or similar live production software
- Experience in live broadcasts (TV, streaming, sports, or events)
- Basic to intermediate understanding of production workflows
- Intermediate knowledge of vMix (switching, overlays, transitions, basic audio, templates)
- Familiarity with NDI, RTMP, SRT, and remote contribution workflows
- Understanding of video/audio formats, codecs, and technical standards
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting under pressure
- Basic to intermediate English for reading technical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and focus during live broadcasts
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, on-air environments
- Clear communication with production, editorial, and technical teams
- Collaborative and proactive mindset, with strong willingness to grow
- Good organizational habits and responsibility in daily operations
