Product Owner

Ontario, Canada

We’re looking for a Product Owner to join our Toronto office and play a key role in driving the success of our products. You will be responsible for managing and prioritizing the product backlog, defining requirements, and ensuring the development team delivers high-quality solutions that align with business goals. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into actionable development tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize the Product Backlog to align with business objectives.

  • Define sprint goals and ensure the team is focused on key priorities.

  • Gather, document, and clarify both functional and non-functional requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Lead and participate in Scrum ceremonies: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Maintain clear and open communication with stakeholders to align on decisions and direction.

  • Drive backlog refinement by preparing, clarifying, and improving tasks ahead of sprint planning.

  • Manage change requests, ensuring operational updates are prioritized and included in upcoming sprints.

  • Define and enforce acceptance criteria to ensure deliverables meet agreed standards.

  • Create, update, and maintain epics, user stories, use cases, and edge cases.

  • Monitor and control requirements to ensure they accurately reflect project status.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in OKR planning, supporting goal-setting, tracking progress, and quarterly planning.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner working independently with requirements.

  • Strong ability to write user stories, use cases, and detailed tasks for development teams.

  • Experience turning business ideas into actionable development tasks with minimal guidance.

  • Demonstrated ownership of the backlog, including prioritization, task assignment, and tracking implementation deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
