Kubernetes Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

About the Job

As a Kubernetes Platform Engineer, you’ll make sure our products run smoothly for customers worldwide. You’ll work on modern infrastructure challenges, while helping Sofico evolve into a global, scalable, cloud-first company.

Your responsibilities include:

• Designing, setting up, and managing environments and microservices (Kubernetes, Azure Cloud & on-prem).
• Through automation using Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps.
• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining environments for global customers.
• OpsGenie, Prometheus, Grafana, FluentBit & Loki
• Supporting customers & other Sofico teams directly and providing technical consulting.
• Modernizing legacy components into scalable, cloud-native solutions.
• Sharing knowledge within the team and across Sofico.

 

About the Team

• You’ll join our Product Platform Operations Team, part of Sofico’s global Platform organization. We’re a close-knit group of engineers spread across multiple time zones, who collaborate daily to build and maintain the backbone of Sofico’s solutions.
• The work can be challenging, but what makes it worth it is the bond we share: we support each other, share laughs along the way, and always have each other’s back.
• In Porto,  you’ll be part of a small, tight team of 1 engineer based in Porto, with direct collaboration with colleagues across Europe, Asia, and Australia.  Our goal is to expand the team with 3 additional platform engineers.

 

Your interests and skills 

We’re aiming high because we want the best, but what’s on your resume isn’t everything. You don’t need to tick every box, but should recognize yourself in most of these:

• Proven experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and at least one cloud provider (Azure, AWS…).
• Familiar with Linux systems (& commands).
• Experience with databases (Oracle and/or MS SQL).
• Basic networking knowledge (DNS, Firewall, …)
• Strong communicator, comfortable explaining infra topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Customer-oriented: able to jump on a call, ask the right questions, and solve problems.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Curious, proactive, and eager to learn new technologies.
• A true team player who enjoys helping colleagues succeed.
• Fluent in English, any other language is a plus. 

Nice to have:
Ansible, Podman/Docker, JBoss, Postgres, Flux, Reverse Proxies, Kafka, CI pipelines, HVR, microservice deployments, advanced Kubernetes concepts like operators, experience in delivering software artifacts to customers. We work with Jira and Confluence, experience is a plus.
