People Partner

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

We're the communications and marketing agency built for challengers, disruptors and visionaries. We help brands change the way people live, work or play around the world.

Sling & Stone is a PR and communications agency with a shared mission. We’re here to unearth, craft, and share the stories of the world’s most ambitious brands shaping the future.

We’re proud of what we do. We craft narratives for the next generation of world-changing companies and introduce them to the world. From building the future of sustainability in Australia, and launching satellites into space, to personal health + wellness and moments of joy — our partnerships with challenger brands means no two days are the same. We work with ambitious brands shaping the world - from Google Cloud to Levi’s, CSIRO, Krispy Kreme, Hibob, LUSH, Reddit, Too Good To Go, Origin Energy, Stripe, Moonpig and many others.

Our team is filled with smart, skilled communicators who share our mission and live our core values of Gumption, Build, Play and Tune in. Globally, we’re a team of 60+ across Australia, Singapore and New Zealand with huge plans to grow.

We’re searching for our next People Partner to set and execute our people strategy across our APAC agency. The successful candidate  will report directly to the COO and form part of our Leadership team, helping to make Sling & Stone the BEST agency to work for.

The role you’ll play

As People Partner, you’ll drive the agency's success by ensuring our greatest superpower — our people — are thriving. You will be responsible for identifying strategic solutions aligned to HR analytics and business goals, and leading the People team to drive culture, learning & development and employee engagement to ensure we remain the go-to agency for high-performing communications professionals.

You’ll set the Employee Value Proposition in collaboration with the Leadership team, manage the People & Culture budget and oversee HR compliance through robust people policies. You’ll set the standard in DEI and the end-to-end employee lifecycle, while continually coming up with innovative approaches to produce world-class talent attraction, engagement and growth programs.

To be successful in this role you’ll need

  • Proven People leadership: Extensive experience working as a HR leader within a dynamic, fast-paced environment — previous experience working at communications, social or marketing agencies, professional services consultancies or with startups/scale-ups a bonus
  • Strategic vision: Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to develop and execute our People Strategy aligned with global business goals, sets the standard instead of following the herd, and engages and excites teams.
  • People development: A passion for mentoring and developing teams, fostering talent growth through training initiatives, growth coaching and annual career reviews.
  • Culture & belonging: A commitment to fostering a high-performance culture and driving DEI initiatives that allow a diverse workforce to flourish.
  • Commercial prowess: Experience managing People & Culture budgets and providing commercial solutions to complex HR issues.
  • Compliance & employment law: Expert knowledge of Australian employment law (NZ and Singapore past experience a bonus) and ability to manage complex processes.
  • Recruitment strategy: Proven skills in identifying, attracting and sourcing top talent to meet the evolving needs of a challenger agency.
  • Operational excellence: Proficiency in HR and AI tech tools and systems to increase efficiencies in performance reviews and reporting.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: An un-precious, honest approach and a mindset that thrives on challenging and disrupting category norms.
  • Growth mindset: A can-do attitude with the resilience to strive for excellence in a high-pressure, creative environment.
