Thermal and Environmental Control System (ECS) Engineer

Outline of the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thermal and Environmental Control System (ECS) Engineer to support the development of next-generation eVTOL aircraft. This role focuses on ensuring robust thermal management and environmental control performance across system and component levels.

You will play a key role in defining, analyzing, and validating thermal architectures, contributing to certification readiness and safe operation under diverse environmental conditions.

  • Develop and design thermal management and Environmental Control System (ECS) architectures for eVTOL platforms
  • Perform 1D and 3D thermal simulations, including detailed CFD analysis (preferably using Star-CCM+)
  • Model and analyze heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and cooling strategies for avionics, batteries, and power electronics
  • Ensure alignment of thermal design with system-level requirements (performance, safety, durability, and reliability)
  • Correlate simulation results with test data, and refine models accordingly
  • Support and execute qualification and environmental testing (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (structures, avionics, safety, certification)
  • Contribute to requirements definition, verification, and validation activities
  • Support development of certification documentation and compliance reports

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in thermal engineering or related fields 
  • Strong knowledge of: Heat transfer, Fluid dynamics, Thermal management systems 
  • Proven experience in thermal CFD analysis (Star-CCM+ preferred) 
  • Experience with 1D and 3D simulation tools 
  • Demonstrated ability to correlate simulation results with experimental/test data 
  • Understanding of how system-level requirements impact modeling and design decisions 
  • Experience with environmental and qualification testing standards (DO-160)

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as: SAE ARP4754 and  SAE ARP4761 
  • Experience in ECS design for aerospace applications 
  • Knowledge of battery thermal management and high-voltage systems
  • Experience supporting certification activities, including preparation of compliance documentation and verification reports

Type of Employment

  • Permanent Employee or Contract Employee
  • Probationary period: 3~6 month

Place of Employment

  • Nagoya Airport Office: Nagoya Airport Terminal Building 2nd floor, Toyoba, Toyoyama-Cho, Nishikasugai, Aichi Prefecture
    • Measures to Prevent Secondhand Smoke: Smoking Room Provided
  • Scope of Change: Places determined by the Company (including places where telework is performed)

Working Hours

  • Flextime or Discretionary labor system
    • In the case of flextime: No core time
    • In case of Discretionary Labor System: Specialized Class Deemed working hours per day: 10 hours
  • Basic working hours: Start 9:00 End 18:00(Including 1hour break time)
    • Overtime Work: Available

Holidays

  • 115 days off per year(Saturday / Sundays / Newyear holidays(12/29~1/3) / Company designated holidays)
  • Annual paid leave
  • Refresh leave (Granted after 1, 3, 4, 5 years of service)

Salary

  • To be determined based on skills, experience, and abilities
