Battery System V&V Engineer

Outline of the Job

We’re seeking a Battery System Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our advanced battery systems used in electric aircraft. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting verification and validation activities to comply with aviation standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibility

  • Validate Battery Performance by updating battery cell voltage and temperature simulation models according to real battery cell test results while accounting for various relevant inputs, e.g. SOC, SOH characteristics and discharging, charging, cooling operations
  • Develop and execute verification and validation plans for battery systems (cell, module, and pack levels) used in eVTOL aircraft.
  • Propose and review functional, performance, safety, and environmental testing aligned with aerospace and regulatory standards (e.g., DO-311A, RTCA standards, UN38.3, IEC 62660).
  • Analyze test data and generate technical reports; identify root causes of issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with BMS engineers, design teams, system safety, and certification teams to ensure compliance with aircraft certification requirements.
  • Support hazard assessments, DFMEA, and risk analysis for high-voltage battery systems.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in battery system testing, V&V, or certification (cell, module, pack, system and vehicle level).
  • Strong knowledge of lithium-ion battery chemistry, high-voltage systems, and BMS (Battery Management Systems).
  • Strong knowledge in Battery performance simulation models and coding.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, or similar).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in aerospace or aviation programs, especially with electric propulsion systems.
  • Familiarity with aviation and safety standards (DO-311A, DO-160, RTCA standards, UN38.3, SAE, or EASA Part 21).
  • Experience with test equipment (battery cyclers, DAQs, environmental chambers, vibration tables, etc.).
  • Knowledge of airworthiness certification processes and compliance demonstration.
  • Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or system simulation for battery testing.

Type of Employment

  • Permanent Employee or Contract Employee
  • Probationary period: 3~6 month

Place of Employment

  • Nagoya Airport Office: Nagoya Airport Terminal Building 2nd floor, Toyoba, Toyoyama-Cho, Nishikasugai, Aichi Prefecture
    • Measures to Prevent Secondhand Smoke: Smoking Room Provided
  • Scope of Change: Places determined by the Company (including places where telework is performed)

Working Hours

  • Flextime or Discretionary labor system
    • In the case of flextime: No core time
    • Discretionary Labor System: Specialized Class Deemed working hours per day: 10 hours
  • Basic working hours: Start 9:00 End 18:00(Including 1hour break time)
    • Overtime Work: Available

Holidays

  • 115 days off per year(Saturday / Sundays / Newyear holidays(12/29~1/3) / Company designated holidays)
  • Annual paid leave
  • Refresh leave (Granted after 1, 3, 4, 5 years of service)

Salary

  • Estimated Annual Salary: JPY 6,850,000 - JPY 8,000,000
  • To be determined based on skills, experience, and abilities
