Iron Bird Construction/Test Engineer

We are building the future of air mobility and need a skilled Iron Bird Construction/Test Engineer to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will be a key player in the construction and testing of our Iron Bird—a crucial test rig that validates our eVTOL's electrical, propulsion, and motor systems.

You will be at the heart of our engineering process, ensuring our eVTOL's foundational technology is rigorously tested and validated for quality, safety, and performance.
Work Location: Toyota Base

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and construction of the Iron Bird test rig, including all necessary fixtures, structures, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems, propulsion equipment, and motors into the test rig.
  • Develop detailed test scenarios and specifications for each test campaign.
  • Conduct and oversee component and system-level testing on the Iron Bird.
  • Monitor tests in real-time to ensure accurate data collection and make adjustments as needed.
  • Document test results, perform in-depth data analysis, and prepare clear, concise reports.
  • Use test findings to identify technical issues and propose improvements for both the test rig and future designs.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in designing and building large-scale test rigs or complex mechanical/electrical systems, such as an Iron Bird.
  • Hands-on experience with LabVIEW or other data acquisition software.
  • Experience in electrical/electronic testing.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take initiative.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in Python or VBA macros.
  • Experience with test harnesses and CANalyzer.
  • Background in circuit design.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical manufacturing assembly skills.
  • A valid driver's license.

Type of Employment

  • Permanent Employee or Contract Employee
  • Probationary period: 3~6 month

Place of Employment

  • Toyota Test Field - Asuke, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture
    • Measures to Prevent Secondhand Smoke: Not Available
  • Scope of Change: Places determined by the Company (including places where telework is performed)

Working Hours

  • Flextime or Discretionary labor system
    • In the case of flextime: No core time
    • Discretionary Labor System: Specialized Class Deemed working hours per day: 10 hours
  • Basic working hours: Start 9:00 End 18:00(Including 1hour break time)
    • Overtime Work: Available

Holidays

  • 115 days off per year(Saturday / Sundays / Newyear holidays(12/29~1/3) / Company designated holidays)
  • Annual paid leave
  • Refresh leave (Granted after 1, 3, 4, 5 years of service)

Salary

  • Estimated Annual Salary: JPY 5,440,000 - JPY 10,280,000
  • Monthly Salary: JPY 454,000 - JPY 857,000
    • Includes fixed overtime pay for 45 hours, amounting to JPY 157,173 - JPY 296,697
      *Additional overtime pay will be provided for hours exceeding the fixed overtime.
  • To be determined based on skills, experience, and abilities
