Flight Test Instrumentation System Design

We are developing a cutting-edge eVTOL and are on the final stretch to obtaining its aeronautical certification. We're looking for a skilled Flight Test Instrumentation Systems Engineer with a strong electrical design background to join our team. 

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and managing the systems that capture critical flight data, which is essential for our aircraft's development and certification. You will work closely with multiple teams to ensure we have the precise data needed to make history.
Work location: Toyota Base

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with various engineering teams to define data specifications for flight testing.
  • Lead the electrical design and integration of comprehensive instrumentation systems. This includes selecting and connecting sensors, data recorders, antennas, communication equipment, and control units, along with designing wire harnesses and electrical components.
  • Select and evaluate components and suppliers to meet system requirements, and manage the procurement process.
  • Adapt FTI systems to accommodate changes in flight test conditions and data requirements. You'll be responsible for troubleshooting and managing design changes.
  • Manage the processing of flight test data, including modifications and documentation.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills:

  • 3-10 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industry.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing instrumentation systems for aircraft, automotive, or other experimental and evaluation platforms.
  • Hands-on experience in flight testing.
  • Experience with data processing and analysis.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to proactively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and initiative.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to listen and identify potential issues
  • Proficiency with mechanical and electrical manufacturing and assembly.
  • Working knowledge of data acquisition and analysis tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills for managing supplier relationships.

  • Permanent Employee or Contract Employee
  • Probationary period: 3~6 month

Place of Employment

  • Toyota Test Field - Asuke, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture
    • Measures to Prevent Secondhand Smoke: Not Available
  • Nagoya Airport Office: Nagoya Airport Terminal Building 2nd floor, Toyoba, Toyoyama-Cho, Nishikasugai, Aichi Prefecture
    • Measures to Prevent Secondhand Smoke: Smoking Room Provided
  • Medium to long term travel to testing sites will be required due to this position's characteristics.
  • Scope of Change: Places determined by the Company (including places where telework is performed)

Working Hours

  • Flextime or Discretionary labor system
    • In the case of flextime: No core time
    • Discretionary Labor System: Specialized Class Deemed working hours per day: 10 hours
  • Basic working hours: Start 9:00 End 18:00(Including 1hour break time)
    • Overtime Work: Available

Holidays

  • 115 days off per year(Saturday / Sundays / Newyear holidays(12/29~1/3) / Company designated holidays)
  • Annual paid leave
  • Refresh leave (Granted after 1, 3, 4, 5 years of service)

Salary

  • Estimated Annual Salary: JPY 6,850,000 - JPY 11,500,000
  • Monthly Salary: JPY571,000 - JPY 959,000
    • Includes fixed overtime pay for 45 hours, amounting to JPY 197,680 - JPY 331,997
      *Additional overtime pay will be provided for hours exceeding the fixed overtime.
  • To be determined based on skills, experience, and abilities
