Prototyping member for next generation eVTOL Development

Outline of the Job

We are developing the next generation of air mobility through our cutting-edge eVTOL program.
In this role, you will join our R&D division as a prototyping and operation development for autonomy research and development topics. We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Prototyping Technician to join our R&D team. This role will focus on the fabrication, assembly, and electrical wiring of subscale aircraft prototypes, contributing directly to the development and testing of new aerospace technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture subscale aircraft components using composites, 3D printing, CNC machining, and other fabrication techniques.
  • Assemble airframe structures and mechanical systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers to interpret schematics, drawings, and design modifications.
  • Assist in the integration and functional testing of prototypes.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide feedback to improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
  • Support test preparation and field operations as required.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in hands-on prototyping, especially in aerospace or UAV applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with subscale aircraft or RC models is a strong plus

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with subscale aircraft or RC models is a strong plus
  • Experience with composite layup and curing processes.
  • Familiarity with autopilot systems (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot) and avionics integration.
  • Ability to pilot fixed-wing or VTOL subscale aircraft safely and effectively.
  • Ability to develop and implement risk assessment plans for prototype operation and flight testing.
  • Passion for aviation, model aircraft, or experimental flight systems.
  • Proficiency in English and Japanese (spoken and written) for effective communication with multinational teams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical wiring standards and practices (e.g., soldering, crimping, harness routing).

Type of Employment

  • Permanent Employee or Contract Employee
  • Probationary period: 3~6 month

Place of Employment

  • Toyota Test Field: 
    • Measures to prevent passive smoking: No smoking on the premises
  • Scope of Change: Places determined by the Company (including places where telework is performed)

Working Hours

  • Flexible Time System (No Core Time) or Discretionary Labor System
    • If Discretionary Labor System: Working hours per day, "Presumed" working hours/day: 10 hours
    • If Flexible Time System: Working hours per day: 8 hours, no core time
  • Standard working hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (60-minute break)
  • Overtime work: Available

Holidays

  • 115 days off per year(Saturday / Sundays / Newyear holidays(12/29~1/3) / Company designated holidays)
  • Paid annual leave: The number of days granted varies depending on the month of joining (according to company regulations)

Salary

  • Estimated annual salary: ¥6,850,000 - ¥10,000,000
    • Monthly salary: ¥571,000 - ¥834,000
    • Fixed overtime pay: Includes 45 hours, ranging from ¥197,680 - ¥288,754
  • To be determined based on skills, experience, and abilities
