Familiarity with reinsurance purchasing and the MGA market is preferred but not required.  The ideal candidate will also have meaningful experience in the E&S space and a strong track record of strategic portfolio management.

In addition to proven deep technical skills, the successful candidate must be a credible leader of people and teams, who is committed to excellence and who will also support and contribute to an environment of continuous improvement.  This is a highly visible role within the organization, and the successful candidate must have the credibility and gravitas needed to interact with the Group Executive Leadership Team, the Board, and key trading partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Head of North America Insurance to define underwriting appetite for property and casualty product lines and develop a multi-year strategic product roadmap for this P&L that supports the overall Group strategy.
  • Executing the underwriting appetite and risk selection within North America Insurance, based on Group underwriting appetite and strategy.
  • Signing off, and/or delegating authority, on all delegated deals as core part of the due diligence process.
  • Supporting delivery of a top and bottom-line business plan, supported by rigorous monitoring and evaluation of underwriting quality, exposures, rating, performance and profitability in coordination with the Group CUO across all lines of business.
  • Strengthening technical underwriting capability across the North America Insurance business including within the program management oversight function.
  • Ensuring appropriate systems and controls are in place and adhered to for the monitoring of underwriting activities, including exposure, income and aggregates in alignment with Group.
  • Reviewing loss information to identify systemic issues within the portfolio.
  • Setting and monitoring underwriting authority limits for underwriters and program managers based on direction set by Group CUO.
  • Contributing as an active member of the North America Insurance leadership team and Group Senior Leadership Team

  • Ensuring a logical, reasoned and measured pricing methodology and risk selection for each line of business.
  • Identifying and driving new product opportunities, overseeing the technical and pricing aspects of product development.
  • Being responsible for signing off new policy wording and significant changes to existing manuscript wordings.
  • Mentoring and develop underwriting talent through training and empowerment.

Your skills and abilities should include:

  • 10 or more years of technical underwriting experience with a reputable re/insurance carrier across a broad range of property, casualty, specialty and personal lines.
  • Highly skilled business partner, able to challenge and stand ground when there is potential conflict of opinions.
  • A track record of strong underwriting judgement.
  • Results oriented focused on driving profitable growth.
  • Advanced degree and/or professional certificate in the re/insurance industry is desirable.
  • Ability to implement decisive change and be an advocate of technology to advance results and capabilities.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
