We're seeking an Analytics Engineer to bridge the gap between data usage in product development and business teams at ShipMonk, focusing on HR, Finance, and Operations. We need someone passionate about establishing data governance and empowering the executive team to make informed decisions based on reliable data. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver and excellent communicator with a proven track record in data management and cross-functional collaboration.

About the Role

This role focuses on upholding ShipMonk’s data standards by enforcing proper tooling and governance, while collaborating with business and executive teams. The Analytics Engineer will implement best practices, educate business users, and liaise between product development and business teams on data issues.

Core Responsibilities

  • Enforce proper data tooling usage and data governance
  • Collaborate with business teams and executives to uphold ShipMonk data standards
  • Implement product development SOPs and data best practices
  • Educate business users on tooling and data access/usage
  • Liaise between product development and business on data issues

Skills and Requirements

  • Data Governance: Ability to establish and enforce clear policies and procedures for data usage, tooling, and access.
  • Data Quality:  Commitment to maintaining consistent, accurate, and reliable data for decision-making.
  • Data Accessibility:  Proactive in ensuring business users can easily find and use data effectively.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:  Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with product development and business teams on data initiatives.
  • Excellent Communication:  Ability to clearly articulate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive Problem-Solver:  Proven ability to identify and resolve data-related issues efficiently.

Success in this role will look like

  • KR: There is a set of verified and certified domain metrics.
  • KR: There is a set of verified and certified departmental metrics.
  • KR: There is a clear written procedure for the HR, Operations and Finance team where they can find data they can rely on and what to do if they cannot find the source/the source does not exist.
  • KR: We have a backlog of prioritized initiatives with clear ownership from both the business and product development side to proactively tackle business data needs by the end of 2025.
