The Product Solutions Engineer Role
This is an internal role that sits at the heart of our product. Send builds a configurable platform for the specialty and commercial insurance market. The Product Solutions Engineer is responsible for the strength and coherence of the core product configuration – the workflows, rules, data models, screens and integrations that form the platform baseline – ensuring it keeps pace with market needs and the broader Send roadmap.
As Product Solutions Engineer you will own the journey from “configured in a client” to “baked into the product”. You will extract, refine and own the configuration that defines our base product, so that delivery teams and SI partners start each engagement with a richer, more opinionated, more tested out-of-the-box product.
You will work closely with product managers, product owners, QA and engineering. As the product grows, the configuration that defines it grows with it – and you are the person who keeps that configuration coherent, well-tested and well-documented.
About Send
We are the leading insurance platform, trusted by world-class insurers to help them navigate complex risks.
Our platform helps commercial insurers, MGAs and reinsurers modernise underwriting, cut friction, and grow profitably in complex markets.
We are the only platform purpose-built for multi-operating models. Our platform combines deep industry expertise with the ability to support a range of strategies and operating models.
Our Story:
We started Send because insurers had been let down for too long by rigid, legacy technology. The industry was ready to work differently – and so were we.
In 2017, our three founders set out with a clear vision: to transform commercial underwriting by combining advanced technology with deep industry expertise.
By 2019, we delivered our first commercial and specialty underwriting platform for Aviva GCS, streamlining operations, increasing efficiency, and giving teams the visibility they needed to make faster, better decisions.
Over the next six years, we rolled out multiple underwriting platform solutions across the UK and US, proving that modern underwriting technology could be powerful, flexible, and rapidly delivered.
In 2022, we won three industry awards and secured a $10m Series A to accelerate our growth. By 2024, Send was recognised as a “Leader” by IDC, Celent, and Datos – a testament to our momentum and our customers’ success.
In 2025, we doubled in size and deepened our expertise in both the London Market and North America – becoming the only underwriting platform purpose-built to support multiple operating models.
But we're not finished. Insurers want orchestration, not siloed systems. That’s why we continue to invest in our platform and orchestration engine – helping our customers win better business, faster.
The Send Team
Over the past two years, Send has experienced significant growth, expanding our team by over 50% to more than 120 people. At the start of 2024, our team was primarily based in the UK and Poland. Since then, we’ve taken major steps toward building a global presence, with team members now located across the UK, US, India, and Ireland-all working collaboratively toward our vision of becoming the market-leading software platform for agile insurers.
Our Funding
From 2017 to 2022, we bootstrapped our growth journey, building a profitable and stable company. In November 2022, following a year of strong customer and team growth, we secured $10 million in Series A funding to accelerate our expansion across the UK and US, as well as to further enhance our product development. We’re proud to have the support and expertise of our investors, Mercia and Breega.
We are now preparing for our Series B round and are excited about the growth acceleration this will enable.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Product Solutions Engineer
The Product Solutions Engineer works in close partnership with the Product Manager and Product Owner – the PM setting product direction, the PO shaping the backlog, and the PSE acting as technical steward of the configuration itself.
Own the Core Product Configuration
- Treat the platform’s configuration – workflows, rules, data models, screens, document templates, integration patterns – as a first-class product surface, and act as its owner.
- Extract configuration that has been built inside customer implementations and lift the right pieces back into the core product baseline, so future customers and SI partners start with more out of the box.
- Curate, version and document the base product configuration. Keep it coherent as new modules and capabilities are added, and prevent drift between what we ship and what gets rebuilt in each engagement.
- Recommend what should be templated, what should be configurable, and what should be customer-specific – and agree those calls with the PM and PO so the choices are visible across product, engineering and delivery.
- Templating and Productisation - Build and maintain product templates that represent how Send works for our target operating models (carrier, MGA, reinsurer, London Market, US specialty, etc.).
- Identify recurring patterns across customer implementations and turn them into reusable templates, presets or accelerators that ship as part of the product.
- Reduce the size and risk of each new implementation by closing the gap between the standard product baseline and what a specific customer needs.
Testing and Definition
- Own how the core product configuration is defined and tested. Work with product managers and product owners to turn intent into clear specifications, acceptance criteria and configuration definitions.
- Partner with QA to ensure the templated product is covered by automated and exploratory tests, and that regressions in configuration behaviour are caught before they reach delivery teams.
- Work with engineering on the configuration framework itself – surfacing gaps, contributing to design discussions, and making sure the platform makes the right things easy to template and easy to test.
- Be the definition-of-done for changes to the base product configuration: documented, tested, demonstrable, and ready for delivery teams and SI partners to use.
Internal Enablement
- Make delivery teams and SI partners faster. Produce the configuration guides, examples, reference implementations and walkthroughs they need to start from a strong OOTB position.
- Act as the internal point of contact on “how does the product do this out of the box?” – and route the answer back into the product when the honest answer is “it doesn’t, yet”.
- Feed structured insight back to product management on where customers consistently have to extend the product, so the roadmap can absorb that pressure rather than push it onto delivery.
The Skills and Experience Needed for the Product Solutions Engineer Role
- Hands-on experience configuring a complex, configurable SaaS or enterprise platform – ideally one with workflow, rules, data modelling and integration. You have lived inside the configuration layer, not just the UI.
- Strong product instinct for what should be templated and shipped versus what is genuinely customer-specific. You can hold the line on the core product when it would be more appropriate for the config to be in a customer environment only.
- Comfortable owning specifications, acceptance criteria and test definitions. You can write down how something is supposed to behave clearly enough for QA and engineering to act on it.
- Effective working across product management, product ownership, QA and engineering. You can hold a technical conversation with engineers and a prioritisation conversation with PMs in the same afternoon.
- Solid understanding of P&C commercial insurance – underwriting processes, MGA and carrier operating models, and the London Market – enough to judge whether a configuration pattern is genuinely reusable or just one customer’s preference.
- Comfortable with APIs, integration patterns and data mapping. You can read a JSON payload, sketch a data model, and reason about how configuration meets code.
- Highly organised, able to manage configuration ownership across multiple product areas in parallel, and proactive about flagging where the base product is starting to drift.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience working on the productisation of a configurable platform – i.e. taking what was custom and making it standard.
- Background in underwriting platforms, policy administration systems (PAS), or bordereaux processing tools.
- Exposure to test automation, behaviour-driven definitions, or configuration-as-code approaches.
- Knowledge of Lloyd’s and the London Market operating model.
- Experience working alongside SI partners or delivery organisations as the internal product owner of a configuration surface.
