Working Student Backoffice (German speaker)

The Second Foundation Group is an international energy trader with approximately 350 employees across locations in Prague (CZ), Zug (CH), Mainz (DE), Berlin (DE), Houston (USA), and Tokyo (JP). We specialize in the physical trading of electricity in 21 markets across Europe, North America, and Asia. 

Our focus is on integrating and optimizing the marketing of renewable energies and battery storage systems in the power market. Since 2023, the Second Foundation Group has been investing in its own assets, primarily focusing on battery storage systems. With a portfolio of 15 battery storage projects totalling over 500 MW, our next goal is to become a leading owner and operator of battery storage systems in Germany. Through efficient and innovative storage concepts, we aim to further the penetration of renewable energy. With an efficient and effective back-office, we ensure both sustainable economic success and high customer satisfaction.

As a Working Student Backoffice Analyst, you play a key role in managing market processes in our back office. Your tasks range from data exchange with transmission and distribution system operators to communication with asset owners and close collaboration with colleagues from IT and analytics departments at our Prague headquarters. 

What would you work on?  

• Supporting market communication processes and energy market data management. 
  • Handling the registration, deregistration, and reallocation of assets within our portfolio. 
  • Reviewing balanced energy quantities (production, redispatch, balancing energy, etc.). 
• Developing your own tools to support your regular tasks. 
• Supporting other teams that require energy data from your area (e.g., billing, controlling, portfolio management, origination). 
• Collaborating with IT in Prague to integrate back-office processes and tools into the new IT platform. 
• Providing ad-hoc support to other teams, such as sales and origination. 

What makes you a great candidate?

• Student in the field of energy management, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related field. 
• Minimum 15 hours per week availability 
• Interest in learning about energy data processes in Germany. 
• Experience with programming, preferably in Python, and enthusiasm for personal development. 
• Basic experience with databases and SQL. 
• Passion for automation. 
• Strong teamwork and communication skills. 
• High level of commitment and sense of responsibility. 
• Strong analytical skills and a structured work approach. 
• Proficient in German and English. 
• Curiosity and openness to innovation, with a desire to grow in a dynamic environment.
