We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accountant passionate about fintech and payments to join our Payment Institute, regulated by the Bank of Italy.
As an Accountant at Scalapay, you will own end-to-end accounting operations for our regulated payment institution, working closely with the Finance Director to support monthly closings, reconciliations, and statutory reporting — ensuring accuracy and compliance at every step.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-by-day accounting entries and and review complex journal entries.
- Manage monthly reconciliations and work with other departments to support monthly closing activities.
- Analyze invoices and assist with payments and cash flow reporting.
- Book invoices and expenses and ensure accuracy of the provision of monthly data for management reporting
- Support preparation of statutory financial statements and contribute to Group consolidated accounts.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accounting processes align with operational and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in corporate accounting (ideally in financial services or payments).
- Solid understanding of Italian accounting standards and monthly closing processes.
- Preparation of financial statements (preferably from banks)
- Good communication skills in English (and Italian beneficial).
- Strong Excel skills; experience with NetSuite or similar ERPs a plus.
- Curiosity, proactivity, and ability to work in a fast-paced fintech environment.
- Big Four Audit background will be a plus.
