ABOUT RHOS

The Rural Health Operating System (RHOS) is a Sand Technologies project that is reimagining rural healthcare delivery across Africa. RHOS seamlessly integrates technology, people, and processes to gather high-quality data from rural health posts, empowering healthcare leaders with real-time data for informed decision-making. This data is managed at our Health Intelligence Center, known as the Blueroom, which is also where the RHOS team provides tech and operational support to health posts to facilitate their delivery of high quality cost-effective care to rural populations. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our mission is to maximize the capacity of healthcare workers to deliver high quality, sustainable, accessible primary healthcare across Africa, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all. We are looking for a hands-on tech enabler who ensures that systems work—and that health workers know how to use them.

As a Digital Healthcare Solutions Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that digital tools are effectively implemented, adopted, and used to improve service delivery. You will bridge the gap between technology and frontline health workers, providing training, change management, and continuous feedback to improve usability and impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Own & implement the configuration, testing, and rollout of digital health tools at rural health facilities and Health Intelligence Centers 
  • Act as the HOS’s first user advocate, capturing feedback and working with engineering teams to improve usability, workflow integration, and performance.
  • Lead user training and change management efforts—ensuring frontline health workers and supervisors can effectively adopt and use digital tools.
  • Work with federal and regional health authorities to ensure alignment with national systems and secure buy-in for deployment.
  • Actively troubleshoot and triage issues, working closely with the central product and engineering teams to prioritize fixes and feature improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support data quality improvement, ensure consistent reporting, and enable value-based decision-making at all levels of the health system.
  • Contribute to product documentation, internal playbooks, and user-facing materials to ensure knowledge is codified and shared.
  • Support impact measurement by linking product features with impact metrics, surfacing what’s working and where the next opportunity lies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in health IT, EMR systems, or digital health delivery - ideally in low-resource settings.
  • Proven experience working within the Ethiopian health system, including engagement with federal and regional health authorities - with Oromia Region serving as the launch region for implementation and future expansion to other regions.
  • Strong experience in product or implementation roles where you've supported tool deployment, end-user onboarding, or process rollout.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as DHIS2, OpenMRS, or CommCare
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize user feedback into actionable product insights.
  • Clear, empathetic facilitation and training skills - you can turn confusion into confidence.
  • Ability to work comfortably in rural or under-resourced environments and maintain tight feedback loops with distributed teams.
  • Fluency in English, Amharic, and Oromiffa, with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts. Knowledge of additional local languages is an asset.
  • Must be based in Ethiopia 

Due to the considerable amount of virtual work and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed in working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential.
