ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a fast-moving team working on high-impact strategic initiatives in the Global Business Services (GBS) sector. We’re looking for a GBS Intern to join us in supporting research, outreach, and operational coordination across key projects.
Our ideal intern is someone with strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a keen interest in business strategy and operations. You are detail-oriented and can support day-to-day operations, executive coordination, and project management activities. This is a dynamic role where you’ll work closely on various workstreams within our team to keep things running smoothly.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in internal operations, cross-functional project execution, and strategic planning, making it ideal for someone interested in business operations, project coordination, or organizational management.
REQUIREMENTS:
Research & Analysis.
- Compile data and insights on Global Business Services (GBS) capabilities in various locations. Assist with collecting feedback and compiling insights.
- Provide basic data analysis and reporting using Excel.
- Conduct secondary research to support client proposals (e.g. talent market rates, city profiles) and prompt-based research using AI tools.
Marketing& Administrative Support:
- Manage email outreach, follow up on action items with clients, partners, and internal teams and track responses and progress.
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and organize appointments.
- Assist in coordinating logistics for events
- Prepare presentation materials and professional PowerPoint presentations for internal and client-facing engagements.
Project & Operations Support
- Assist in planning and executing project roadmaps across multiple teams.
- Track project milestones, manage timelines, and report progress.
- Help coordinate across departments including HR, Tech, Client Onboarding, and Training.
- Organize and facilitate project meetings, stand-ups, and steering updates.
- Maintain and update SOPs, status reports, and risk logs.
- Maintain well-organized records and project documentation.
- Support the setup of operational frameworks for new clients or internal teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written communication and follow-up, especially via email.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office, creating slide decks, and using Excel.
- Initiative, curiosity, and problem-solving mindset.
- Strong research capabilities (online, secondary sources, etc).
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization
- Basic AI prompt and research capabilities
- Interest in project management tools and methodologies
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in a relevant role (e.g., Virtual Assistant, Business Analyst, Project Coordinator, or Data Analyst).
- Prior internship or experience in coordination or project support is preferred.
- Previous internship experience with Sand Technologies/ALX is a plus.
- Experience in an administrative, operations, or project support role is a plus
- Internships or academic projects involving coordination or research are also relevant
Location Preference
Candidates based in Johannesburg or Nairobi are preferred to support on-the-ground activities such as talent recruitment and event coordination. Application Closing Date is 9th June 2025
Due to the considerable amount of virtual work and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed in working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential.
