Senior Broadcast Technician – Team Leader
Position Overview
Sands Digital Services (SDS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Broadcast Technician / Team Leader to oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of our live streaming video production infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring the technical excellence of our multi-camera, NDI-based broadcast environments, while also providing leadership and mentorship to a team of broadcast technicians.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in video, lighting, and audio systems, along with strong leadership capabilities to manage live production workflows and troubleshoot issues in real time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the broadcast technician team in setting up and calibrating professional HD cameras, lenses, and accessories for multi-camera live stream productions
- Oversee the rigging and positioning of lighting equipment (LED panels, Fresnels, Kino Flos, etc.)
- Assist in the design and implementation of lighting plans and camera blocking
- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of complex NDI-based video infrastructure
- Supervise the setup and monitoring of audio systems including mixers, microphones, IFB/IEM systems
- Operate and support video routing systems, converters, and other broadcast-grade equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and decisively during live productions
- Communicate technical requirements and updates to production teams and clients
- Create and manage efficient shift rotation schedules for the broadcast technician team
- Mentor junior team members and provide ongoing technical guidance and support
Minimum Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a broadcast technician in live production environments
- Proven expertise in multi-camera live production setups
- Strong knowledge of NDI video-over-IP workflows and HD video standards
- Hands-on experience with professional lighting and audio systems
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, live production settings
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing technical teams
- Creative problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
