Risk Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Risk Manager (contractor, 20 hours per week) in Europe / Latin America (no other region) to support our growing investment strategy and financial risk management function. You’ll play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and monitoring the financial and operational risks of the organization’s investments and financial assets across both traditional finance and Web3. This role combines quantitative analysis with sound judgment to support investment decision-making, ensuring regulatory compliance.

This role is ideal for a seasoned risk professional or consultant seeking part-time engagement with the potential to scale as the organization’s investment scope expands.

You’ll work closely with the Growth, Finance, Product, and Legal teams to enhance our risk management framework, reporting processes, and analytics capabilities, providing critical insights into investment and counterparty risk exposure.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk Monitoring & Reporting

• Develop, maintain, and enhance risk models and dashboards to monitor portfolio exposures (market, credit, liquidity, and counterparty risk).
• Conduct scenario analysis, stress testing, and VaR calculations to assess potential portfolio vulnerabilities.
• Prepare regular risk reports and present findings to the investment committee and senior management.

Risk Framework & Governance

• Implement and maintain the firm’s risk management policies, limits, and escalation procedures.
• Contribute to the development of the organization’s overall risk appetite statement and risk-adjusted performance metrics.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Investment & Market Analysis

• Collaborate with portfolio managers to evaluate trade ideas from a risk/reward and concentration standpoint.
• Analyze liquidity profiles and counterparty exposures across funds and strategies.
• Identify emerging macroeconomic or market risks that could impact portfolios.

Operational & Model Risk

• Partner with operations and finance to assess and mitigate operational and model risks.
• Evaluate new products, instruments, or strategies for potential risk implications before implementation.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in risk management or quantitative analysis, ideally within an investment fund, asset manager, or fintech.
• Strong understanding of financial instruments including equities, fixed income, derivatives, alternatives, and digital assets.
• Proficiency in risk analytics tools such as Bloomberg PORT, MSCI RiskMetrics, or Aladdin, and working knowledge of Python, R, or SQL.
• Deep expertise in portfolio construction, stress testing, and scenario modeling.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex risk data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to operate independently in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
