Test Automation Architect

As a Testing and Test Automation CoE Build Architect, you will serve as the strategic leader and primary architect for establishing enterprise Testing Centers of Excellence for Test Automation and other types of testing. You will work directly with C-level stakeholders to define the vision, develop business cases, design operating models, and build foundational governance structures that enable enterprise-wide testing transformation and automation adoption. This role combines strategic consulting, CoE design expertise, and hands-on delivery leadership across client engagements, integrating deep expertise in test automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and foundation work for Testing CoE implementations with a heavy focus on Test Automation
- Develop CoE charters including the vision, mission, strategic objectives, and value propositions
- Build comprehensive business cases with ROI modeling, financial analysis, and investment justification
- Design target operating models for testing service delivery (conversion, automation, full-service, support)
- Create estimation frameworks including, T-shirt sizing methodologies and cost models
- Develop chargeback and cost recovery models with pricing strategies and rate card structures
- Conduct landscape assessments and maturity evaluations across testing functions
- Facilitate executive workshops and governance body sessions with C-level stakeholders
- Design governance structures including, steering committees, PMO models, and service review boards
- Lead change management, launch planning, and CoE adoption strategies
- Provide strategic oversight and quality assurance across all implementation phases
- Support project management with planning, risk management, and executive communications
- Deliver thought leadership through presentations, whitepapers, and client advisory
- Define test automation architecture with leading tools such as UiPath Test Cloud, Selenium, Playwright or similar
Required Skills & Experience
- 12-15+ years in QA/Testing with 5+ years in CoE design, implementation, or transformation, with experience in Agile methodologies, DevOps, Shift-Left testing, and CI/CD practices
- UiPath ecosystem and process automation is a must
- Proven experience building Testing CoEs, Automation CoEs, or Quality Engineering practices at enterprise scale including, defining TOM, Chargeback models, pricing strategies, TCO/TVO analysis, metrics/KPIs & Dashboards, demand management, intake process, capacity planning
- Knowledge of test automation ecosystem: UiPath, Selenium, Tosca, or similar, and hands-on expertise with at least one leading test automation platform
- Executive stakeholder management: C-suite engagement, business case development, strategy alignment
- Strong facilitation and workshop design skills for diverse audiences
- Excellent documentation, presentation, and executive communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous CoE Head, CoE Director, or QA Transformation Lead experience
- Consulting background (Big 4, boutique consulting firms, or vendor consulting practices)
- Experience with multiple CoE models (RPA, DevOps, Automation, Quality Engineering)
- PMP, SAFe, or equivalent project/program management certification
- Industry vertical expertise (Utilities, BFSI, Healthcare, Manufacturing)
- Published thought leadership or speaking experience at industry conferences

Salary Range US
$125,000 - $165,000 USD
