Position Description
Market Research Analyst
Permanent, Full Time
Location: Singapore
As a leading digital third-party due diligence provider, RightShip has an ambitious vision to expand its influence in safety, sustainability and crew welfare using the best innovation, digitalization and data-focused solutions.
We are seeking an experienced and competent Market Research Analyst who will work closely with the frontline sales colleagues and provide actionable insights to drive strategic planning and business performance. You should deliver digestible and actionable insights on commodities, geographies, industries, suppliers, sustainability and other levers and value drivers at a global level.
In this role, you need to monitor and perform focused research, analyse, and report on policy and market developments in the marine sector. You should have excellent problem-solving, time-management and the ability to clearly articulate and present information to stakeholders at all levels of the business. The successful candidate is deeply passionate about technology and data and has a keen eye for commercial opportunities. This role reports to the Commercial Analyst.
Major Responsibilities
- Support RightShip in its growth to be a leading digital maritime player;
- Work closely with the Sales Team and identify opportunities to grow exponentially the existing and future products of RightShip;
- Conduct in depth industry studies, competitors and macroeconomics research/ analysis, follow industry trends, new technologies in the digital maritime technology space to identify new growth or emerging opportunities;
- Support the creation of actionable research reports that address business objectives;
- Able to proactively identify business opportunity;
- Analyst data from various sources, including internally from Commercial and Product Team colleagues to generate storyboard to communicate insights;
- Prepare presentations and communication with stakeholders regarding the results of research and analytical work using various communication tools including conference participation, workshops, webinars, online presentations;
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand their business needs and requirements;
- A proactive self-starter with a keen eye for detail and a meticulous approach to work;
- This is an individual contributor role that will work independently or with team members to support projects with limited assistance/oversight from department manager and senior team members;
- Undertake special projects as assigned and own it.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- 5+ years of relevant work experience;
- Prior experience as a research analyst or operations research analyst is a must;
- Degree in either Business Management, Economics or Maritime-related discipline required;
- Proficient in business intelligence, reporting and data analytics;
- The candidate should understand the regulatory landscape in the shipping industry, market developments from a geographic perspective, in particular commodity movements and digital maritime ecosystem;
- Understanding of vessel emission standards and related policies (environment, air quality and climate change) will be considered a plus;
- Able to synthesize data and generate reports in a concise and user-friendly format;
- Strong business acumen;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI, SQL, Power Query;
- Commercial awareness of the maritime & offshore industries is preferred;
- Highly analytical, meticulous, proactive, and self-motivated;
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills;
- Able to manage timelines and prioritize tasks.
