Managing Director - Commercial, Data Services & Overseas

The Managing Director is responsible for the performance and strategic direction of Rightmove's Commercial, Overseas and Data Services businesses.

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the role leads three distinct business areas with different commercial models, partner needs and growth opportunities. Working with the Group Leadership Team, the Managing Director sets the long-term direction for each business, develops annual plans and ensures sustainable revenue and profit growth.

The role combines commercial leadership, strategic judgement, partner engagement and people leadership to deliver exceptional outcomes for partners and Rightmove.

Scope of Role

The Managing Director has overall accountability for the Commercial, Overseas and Data Services businesses.

The role has two direct reports:

  • Director – Overseas & Data Services
  • Sales Director – Commercial

It also provides leadership to a wider cross-functional leadership team comprising:

  • Two Heads of Product
  • Finance Business Partner
  • Marketing Manager

Working through this leadership team, the Managing Director sets priorities, allocates resources and ensures delivery against agreed objectives, while building strong relationships across the Group Leadership Team and with Product, Marketing, Finance, Strategy and Revenue

What you'll be doing

Strategy, Planning & Performance

  • Own the revenue, profitability and overall performance of the businesses.
  • Set long-term strategy and lead annual business planning, budgets and growth targets.
  • Understand the financial drivers of each business and prioritise investment and resources to maximise commercial returns.

Commercial & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Identify and execute opportunities to accelerate growth across existing and new revenue streams.
  • Build strong relationships with key partners and lead significant commercial negotiations where required.
  • Work closely with Product, Marketing and Finance to strengthen propositions, support investment decisions and deliver business plans.
  • Monitor market trends, partner needs and competitive activity to shape future strategy.

Organisational Capability

  • Lead and develop senior leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance.
  • Lead through senior managers and cross-functional leaders, providing direction, challenge and prioritisation.
  • Build organisational capability and succession strength across the businesses.
  • Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing leadership team, building organisational capability, accountability and succession strength across the businesses.

Who you are

Experience & Capabilities

  • Significant experience leading commercial teams and delivering sustained business growth.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a substantial business unit or P&L.
  • Strong commercial and financial judgement, with the ability to translate strategy into action and make sound investment decisions.
  • Experience leading both direct reports and cross-functional leadership teams, delivering results through influence as well as formal line management.
  • Broad understanding of the commercial, product, marketing and operational levers that drive business performance.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
