Product Designer - Consumer Platforms
Our vision is to give everyone the belief they can make their move. We aim to make moving simpler, by giving everyone the best place to turn to and return to for access to the tools, expertise, trust, and belief to make it happen.
We’re home to the UK’s largest choice of properties and are the go-to destination for millions of people planning their next move, reading the latest industry news, or just browsing what’s on the market.
The role
We're looking for a Product Designer to join our new Consumer Platforms team. The team will work on initiatives that cut across multiple consumer teams, strengthening our foundations and improving the journeys that underpin the Rightmove experience.
You’ll help improve the journeys used by everyday consumers on Rightmove. That’s people looking to move, explore what’s on the market, or understand what their home is worth.
- You’ll be the sole designer embedded in the team, working closely with the Product Manager and engineers.
- You’ll also be part of our wider XD team, a community of 30+ Product Designers, Content Designers and User Researchers.
- Reporting to the Lead Product Designer for Consumers.
- Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Soho, London office and 3 days from home.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning end-to-end improvements: mapping journeys, identifying friction, proposing simplified flows, testing and iterating.
- Improving sign-in and registration flows and related account journeys, reducing friction and increasing conversion rates.
- Supporting our Move & Home initiatives by connecting journeys across touchpoints and teams.
- Creating and communicating solutions through user journeys, flows, wireframes, UI design and prototypes.
- Partnering with the Product Manager to understand the roadmap and strategic priorities.
- Collaborating with User Research, Content Design and other designers to support you in your design process.
- Proactively running your own research and usability testing to validate ideas and refine designs.
- Using analytics and qualitative insight to understand impact and continuously improve what we ship.
- Working with engineers through delivery to ensure experiences are technically feasible, accessible, performant and consistent with our design system.
- Contributing to design system patterns, documentation and ways of working that help teams collaborate effectively.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Experience designing responsive web products, with a portfolio that shows strong UX design, systems thinking and UI craft.
- Ability to design clear, multi-step journeys and reduce complexity in flows.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design, and an eye for quality and consistency.
- Comfort working within (and contributing to) a design system and using reusable components/patterns effectively.
- Confidence using evidence to make decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Openness to feedback, both on your design work and personal development.
- Pragmatic approach to delivery: ability to balance user goals, business goals and technical constraints.
- Curiosity and a growth mindset, including thoughtful and responsible use of AI tools where appropriate.
