What You’ll Be Doing
- Model, build, and productionise robust data assets using dbt and BigQuery
- Maintain and evolve the semantic layer in Looker to support consistent, self-serve analytics
- Ensure data is transformed, tested, and of high quality before consumption by downstream users
- Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and engineers to understand requirements and deliver trusted data models
- Document and expose data assets in a way that is easy to understand and use
- Apply and advocate engineering best practices across analytics codebases
- Maintain the data catalogue and support a single source of truth for analytics
- Analyse workflows and collaborate with data engineers to improve performance and maintainability
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to reduce complexity and cost across the data platform
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives
We're Looking for Someone Who:
- Has 3–5 years of proven experience in analytics engineering or data modelling, working on production-grade data models and semantic layers within a large-scale, cloud-based data platform
- Has hands-on experience with dbt and understands modular data modelling best practices
- Is confident writing and optimising complex SQL queries in BigQuery (or Redshift/Snowflake)
- Has experience working with Looker (Core) and maintaining semantic layers (LookML)
- Has worked in a production environment where data models are used to power business-critical reporting and dashboards
- Understands the importance of documentation, testing, and version control (Git) in analytics workflows
- Has experience working in a cloud-native environment - GCP highly preferred, also AWS
- Optimistic, curious and gets excited by tech, enjoys keeping up with current trends. Actively gets involved and enjoys contributing to tech events
- Is proactive, communicative, and comfortable contributing to technical discussions and design decisions
- Brings a collaborative and curious mindset, and enjoys working in cross-functional teams
