About Remote People

At Remote People, we're building the infrastructure to power borderless teams. By handling global payroll, benefits, taxes, and compliance, our technology enables businesses to hire anyone anywhere compliantly at the push of a button.

If you're interested in adding to our vision of enabling people to work in dream jobs, for every company, and from anywhere in the world, apply now!

We're committed to building a global, diverse team representing different and varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. We welcome applications from everyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, civil or family status, age, or disability. Being part of Remote People means being part of a growing, international family.

What you’ll actually do
  • Own the design process end-to-end for your squad. That means running discovery (stakeholder interviews, user research, data analysis), framing the problem, exploring solutions, and shipping polished UI — not handing off wireframes and hoping for the best.
  • Make hard workflows feel easy. You’ll tackle things like multi-country payroll approval flows, contract amendment processes, and compliance dashboards that surface the right information at the right time. The challenge is reducing cognitive load without hiding important detail.
  • Talk to users regularly. You’ll plan and lead your own research — interviews, usability tests, contextual inquiry — with HR managers, finance teams, and remote workers. You won’t have a dedicated researcher, so this is a core part of the role, not something you delegate.
  • Pair with engineers on implementation. We care about design quality in production, not just in Figma. You’ll review builds in staging, file precise issues when things are off, and sometimes jump into the browser inspector to suggest CSS fixes.
  • Evolve our design system. We have an emerging system with components and patterns that need love. You’ll contribute new components, improve documentation, and help the team make consistent decisions faster. This is shared work across the design team, not a solo project.
  • Advocate for accessibility and internationalisation. Our users are globally distributed and work in different languages. Designing for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance and supporting right-to-left languages, date format localisation, and variable-length translations is baked into the work — not an afterthought.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who’s been through enough product cycles to have developed strong instincts and a clear point of view on how to solve problems — but who stays curious and open to being wrong. You should have:
  • 3–7 years designing digital products, with at least 2 years on B2B or SaaS platforms
  • A portfolio that shows how you think, not just what you shipped — problem framing, trade-off decisions, research insights, and how the work performed after launch
  • Deep fluency in Figma — you’re opinionated about how to structure files, name components, and set up a library that scales
  • AI proficiency — you know when and how to use AI as a force multiplier in the design process, and when the human touch is required
  • Proven experience designing complex, data-rich interfaces (dashboards, multi-step workflows, forms) that real users found usable, not just stakeholders who signed off
  • The ability to plan and lead user research independently — scoping studies, recruiting participants, running sessions, and synthesising findings into design decisions
  • Strong communication skills: you can articulate the reasoning behind your design decisions to engineers, PMs, and executives, and you can disagree constructively

Bonus if you also bring:
  • Domain experience in HR-tech, payroll, fintech, or compliance-heavy SaaS
  • Familiarity with EOR (Employer of Record), global payroll, or contractor management
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system from the ground up
  • Enough front-end knowledge (HTML, CSS, basic React concepts) to review implementation and have informed conversations with engineers
