Key Responsibilities

Inwards Reinsurance

  • Perform pricing analysis for individual new and renewal inwards reinsurance accounts
  • Engage with broker partners on submissions, both new business and renewals
  • Monitor the performance of bound inwards transactions on a quarterly basis
  • Conduct portfolio-level profitability analysis, including AvE and portfolio modelling
  • Support the development of reporting and MI tools to deliver accurate and timely portfolio insights to internal and external stakeholders (management, board, reinsurers)
  • Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with senior team members to optimise the deployment of Relm’s reinsurance capacity across treaty and facultative opportunities, including fronted business, programmes, traditional cedants, and captives
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives such as commutations, novations, and loss portfolio transfers
  • Support new product development and alternative reinsurance solutions

Outwards Reinsurance

  • Support Relm’s outwards reinsurance strategy across all lines of business, including treaty placements and facultative reinsurance
  • Prepare and analyse data for reinsurance submissions
  • Perform optimisation and portfolio analysis to ensure reinsurance structures align with overall business strategy
  • Conduct actuarial and quantitative analysis to assess profitability and business impact
  • Develop a working understanding of catastrophe modelling, where relevant to the portfolio
  • Maintain accurate reinsurance documentation, including contracts and bordereaux, and ensure timely distribution to partners

General Responsibilities

  • Stay up to date with insurance products, reinsurance market developments, and industry trends
  • Monitor the evolving risk landscape and regulatory environment, assessing potential impacts on pricing and strategy
  • Identify opportunities linked to Relm’s IIGB licence, including the use of digital assets in underwriting, alternative reinsurance structures, and collateralised solutions
  • Support wider team initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as required

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Python or R
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • High attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in reinsurance underwriting or actuarial roles
  • Fully qualified actuary with at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance structures, contracts, and policy wordings
  • Familiarity with treaty and facultative reinsurance placements
